The first-person shooter video game Borderlands 2 was released in 2012 and was created by Gearbox Software and 2K Games. The game is once more set on the planet of Pandora and takes place five years after the events of Borderlands (2009). The plot centres on a new set of Vault Hunters who, to stop the oppressive Handsome Jack from gaining access to a new Vault, must join forces with the Crimson Raiders, a rebel organisation made up of civilian survivors and guerilla warriors. The game allows for offline split-screen, single-player, or online cooperative gaming. Players can explore the virtual world and complete the game's primary tasks and optional side quests.

Gameplay

Borderlands 2 is a first-person shooter with RPG video game influences, much like its predecessor. In the base game, there are four classes of playable characters, each with a unique Action Skill: Axton, aka "the Commando," can call up a turret to back his onslaught. Enemies can be "phase-locked" by Maya, aka "the Siren," by being imprisoned in an energy sphere for a brief period of time. Zer0, often known as "the Assassin," can briefly turn invisible and produce a hologram decoy to distract attackers. Finally, Salvador, also known as "the Gunzerker," can temporarily dual-wield firearms. The user must wait until the action skill's cooldown period is through before using it again.

Plot

When the game begins, the Vault Hunters are on a Hyperion train on Pandora. The Vault Hunters are abandoned in a cold wasteland by their boss, Handsome Jack, who has unexpectedly sabotaged the train. The final unit of CL4P-TP ("Claptrap") locates the Vault Hunters. To destroy Handsome Jack, the Guardian Angel contacts the Vault Hunters and gives them orders to travel with Claptrap to Sanctuary to ally with the Crimson Raiders, an anti-Hyperion resistance group.

When the Vault Hunters go to Sanctuary, they are ordered to free Roland, the head of the Crimson Raiders, who the Firehawk, a bounty hunter, has taken prisoner. The Vault Hunters learn from Lilith that a gang of bandits kidnapped Roland. The Vault Hunters rescue Roland and make their way back to Sanctuary after battling through the bandits' territory.
