Age of Empires IV is a welcoming experience for new players thanks to a tutorial system that teaches the fundamentals of real-time strategy and a Campaign Story Mode created for first-time players to aid in easy setup and success, yet is challenging enough for experienced players with new game mechanics, evolved strategies, and combat techniques.

Voiceovers for the game were recorded utilizing each language's traditional pronunciation. Dynamedion composers Tilman Sillescu (Main Theme), Alexander Röder (Chinese, English), Henning Nugel (Rus, Abbasid), Armin Haas (Delhi Sultanate), and Mikolai Stroinski contributed to the in-game music (French).
