A multiplayer side-scrolling racing Game called SpeedRunners was created by DoubleDutch Games and released by tinyBuild. They use grappling hooks, power-ups, objects, and interactive settings, and players battle with one another to outrun their rivals. SpeedRunners is the perfect game for the competitive champ in you. 

SpeedRunners was initially released as a free web browser Game with the name SpeedRunner and later as an Xbox 360 Game with the name SpeedRunner HD on Xbox Live Arcade. SpeedRunners was made available on Steam on August 26, 2013, in Steam Early Access, then on April 19, 2016, as a complete Game. SpeedRunners, a Games with Gold title, was made available on Xbox One in June 2017. On January 23, 2020, a Nintendo Switch version was made public. 

How It is Played

Whoever is currently in the lead moves the screen with them. If one lags far enough off the screen, one is eliminated. The screen will begin to shrink after a player is removed, making it more difficult to survive. The screen will automatically start to get smaller if no one is eliminated within a predetermined amount of time. The game tests your fine motor skills, which gives just the right amount of kick to keep the player hooked!

The final survivor wins the round when all but one player has been eliminated. After a countdown, the screen shrinks to its previous size, and another round begins. To win the match overall, a player needs to prevail in three games.

Challenges and Features

Players can select a Character and a set of Trails, which indicate when a player is sprinting. The majority of characters also have four different skins that can vary their colour. Prior to the start of a match, participants can also establish teams of two players. Instead of only three rounds, teams must win four, and members of each couple split the Sprinting Meter.

Based on their performance, the player gains experience as they advance. When a player levels up as a result of earning enough experience points, additional characters, levels, power-ups, and skins become available.

SpeedRunners was nominated for Best PC/Console Game at the 2012 Dutch Game Awards and received the Gamer's Voice Award at the 2015 SXSW Gaming Awards. It also earned Indie DB's 2014 Best Multiplayer Game Award.
