Multidirectional shooting video game Ion Assault was created by Coreplay and released by Black Inc. for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade. On September 23, 2009, it became available in Europe and North America. The legendary arcade shooter Asteroids and this game's gameplay are comparable. The first Xbox Live Arcade title created in Germany was Ion Assault.

On November 17, 2010, Ion Assault was made available on the Steam platform for Windows. After being taken off the market in 2015, it was reinstated in 2018 for Xbox 360 and 2019 for Steam.

In ION ASSAULT, players can blast, fry, and otherwise disturb everything on the screen as they see fit using thousands of ion particles!

Gameplay with a difference: Space shooters in the arcade style are given a twist by ION ASSAULT, which bases its gameplay around a special fluid and particle physics system.

Plot

Humanity develops an energy source in 2183 that makes it possible to explore new reaches of space. Massive mother ships deliver the newly discovered fuel to Earth from the far-off energy regions. After an alien attack decimates the fleet, the player embarks on a risky voyage home on a small harvester. In Ion Assault, players repel hordes of aliens by utilizing free energy particles prevalent in space rather than traditional weapons. The player can fire the bundled particles towards the asteroid and hostile ship targets.
