Stranger Than Heaven Characters and Voice Actors

Stranger Than Heaven is an upcoming action-adventure game from RGG Studio and SEGA. It is connected to the Like a Dragon universe and tells a story set across five different eras and five Japanese cities, covering a journey of about 50 years. The story begins in 1915 and follows Makoto Daito, a young man with an American father and Japanese mother who leaves the United States for Japan in search of a place where he can belong.

One of the most interesting things about the game is its unusual cast. RGG Studio has brought together Japanese actors, international musicians and famous legacy performers. Names such as Yu Shirota, Dean Fujioka, Snoop Dogg, Tori Kelly and Ado appear alongside veteran Japanese actors. Stranger Than Heaven also includes special likeness appearances connected to the late actors Bunta Sugawara and Tupac Shakur.

The table below explains the main Stranger Than Heaven characters and their voice actors. Let’s have a look at them.

Makoto Daito: The Protagonist

Makoto Daito is the main character in Stranger Than Heaven. His life starts in San Francisco in 1915. He has an American dad and a Japanese mom, yet he often feels like he does not fit. When his parents pass away, he sets off for Japan and goes there to find a place he can call home.

Yu Shirota plays Makoto. The choice stands out, since Shirota is not only an actor but also a singer. That lines up with how the game puts music and shows at the center. Masayoshi Yokoyama, who leads RGG Studio, has said that singing matters for the tale. That point clearly shaped who got cast.

Why the Stranger Than Heaven Characters Matter

The Stranger Than Heaven characters matter because they fit the main ideas of the game. The plot shifts between Japan areas and people from different backgrounds. Music and other forms of entertainment show up often. Crime and how a person sees themselves also matter.

There are five time and place jumps in this RPG: 1915 Kokura, 1929 Kure, 1943 Osaka, 1951 Atami, and 1965 Shinjuku. That structure helps you see the Stranger Than Heaven characters during big changes in Japan, not just in one snapshot.

The character list you are given is a solid place to start. Still, it should not treat every rumor as if it is already proven. As of September 2026, SEGA’s official cast page shows 16 named entries. The list includes fresh names like Tadashi Hataoka, Takeo Godai, Suekichi, Tetsuya Hama, and Amaru.

The game is set to launch on January 15, 2027. So the confirmed cast is one of the clearest clues about what RGG Studio plans to deliver before release.
