The story features rapper and actor Vince Staples, and its prelude is set around a recreated Rucker Park, the legendary New York City street court that also plays a central role in the new Street Kings mode in The City. One notable change to the modern path: draft position is no longer locked. How well you perform during the story can move you up the draft board, all the way to the number one pick if you play well enough. You will still have the option to manually choose your team if you play through the full prelude or skip ahead, but earning that top draft spot gives you more control over how your career actually starts.

Co-Op MyCAREER: A First for the Mode
For the first time ever, you can invite a friend to join your MyCAREER directly through a new Running Mate system. Your friend controls Trace Miller, a custom teammate introduced during the G League portion of the story who stays with your MyPLAYER throughout the rest of your career.
Trace can be built using nine different templates, and their attributes, Badges, and abilities level up through play just like a real MyPLAYER. Co-op is entirely optional and works on a game-by-game basis. If your friend is not online, the AI simply takes control of Trace so nothing about your career is blocked by needing a second player. Both participants earn their own VC and Season XP while playing together, so there is no progression penalty for teaming up.
