Minecraft Beta Update (1.21.30.23) Preview

This week’s Minecraft Preview and Beta update brings some exciting new features to explore in the world of Minecraft. The Pre-Testing stages of the update intend to add new features to the game, like Bundles, and also improve the performance of the game for all Consoles, including the Nintendo Switch version, due to its accessibility. Minecraft Preview is available on Xbox, PlayStation, Windows, and iOS, while the beta can be accessed on Android via Google Play.

What’s New

In this Minecraft update, bundles make their debut in the Bedrock Edition pre-release. Bundles allow players to store multiple items in a single inventory slot, making inventory management much more efficient. You can even nest bundles within other bundles for maximum space-saving. The update also introduces a new tooltip feature that lets you easily pick specific items from a bundle, making inventory handling more user-friendly.

Bundles

  • Bundles allow you to stack different items together in one inventory slot.
  • You can store a mix of items within a single bundle up to the usual stack size (64).
  • Bundles feature a tooltip that displays their contents. If there are fewer than eight item types, all items are shown. Otherwise, only the top two rows are visible.
  • The new submenu lets you choose specific items to remove from the bundle, a feature added based on player feedback.
  • Bundles can be emptied onto the ground, and they’re crafted with one string and one leather, making them more accessible than the earlier prototype that required rarer materials like Rabbit Hide.

This update also brings minor improvements, such as parrots imitating Endermites and more interactive mechanics, ensuring each adventure in your world remains fresh and exciting.

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where End Gateway Portals could teleport some players incorrectly
  • The ‘/camera set’ command will now run in the correct order when an existing camera interpolation is running.

General

  • Adding input glyph support in the name tags displayed over the entities

Items

  • Fixed block items turning into an incorrect variant when importing worlds older than 1.5.0
  • EDU: Fixed Material Reducer recipes not working with some flattened blocks such as Andesite or Terracotta

Known Issues in testing

  • The bundle crafting recipe may not show up as a suggestion, but it can still be crafted manually.
  • The wrong item icon might appear briefly on touch devices when moving items.
