New Story: GreedFall 2 is set three years after the original. This time, the player is thrust into the boots of a native who has been captured and taken to the old continent rather than the foreign colonist from the first game. This takes the narrative to a new height, adding more depth to the story. This role reversal adds a new layer to the narrative, allowing players to experience the story from the viewpoint of the Indigenous people who were affected by the colonial powers in the first game.
New Setting: The game steps away from Teer Frade majorly, now placing players in the heart of the old continent and landing on the brink of collapse. As a native of Teer Frade, you’ll find this unfamiliar world drastically different from the one you once knew. The dying continent presents unique challenges, where survival is difficult and navigating the deep-rooted corruption and political turmoil will test your abilities. The unforgiving nature of this decaying world will shape player progression, demanding strategic decisions and resilience at every turn.
Mysteries of the Old World
The new adventure will take players on a mysterious journey through the lands of the old continent originally not seen in the first GreedFall. Players can explore a vast open world and explore through the Star City of Olima or sail the treacherous waters of the Uxantis and tread on the mysterious backroads of the Deutan Empire for the very first time. Uncover centuries-old secrets and, if you dare, face the challenges posed by the multiple factions scrambling over to take control of this dying world.
Pick your Companions
GreedFall 2 will expand on the already brilliant companion system of the first game with much more customisable options and characters to choose from when creating your team of companions. You are in complete control of your team’s compositions and equipment, with options to pick skills and perks. This time around, players can also control their companions in battle, but beware, every action you take will have an effect on your companions as they are more than just tag-along buddies. The players can become friends, have love interests, or have their companions turn against them and even be called rivals.
Early Access and Release Date
GreedFall 2: The Dying World will be launching through Early Access to garner valuable feedback from the community. Since the second entry is much more expanded with more regions, creatures, quests, and characters, player input is crucial for balancing and refining the gameplay experience. Players will be able to test out the game and will be able to provide the developers with the much-needed feedback to refine the game for its initial full release; as of now, the game is set for Early-Access with 30% of the final build available to players on 24 September 2024.
