EA FC 27 New Skill Moves: All 4 New Moves & Controls

EA SPORTS FC 27 is adding four new skill moves to the game, giving players even more ways to beat defenders, create space, and produce unpredictable attacking moments.

The new EA FC 27 skill moves include the Fake Turn, Ball Roll Spin, Stepover Combo, and Kneel Header. While three are focused on beating opponents on the ground, the Kneel Header introduces a completely different option for aerial finishing.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new skill moves in FC 27, including what each move does, when to use it, and more. Let’s dive in.

What Are the New Skill Moves in EA FC 27?

EA FC 27 adds four new skill moves to the existing skill-move library:

  1. Fake Turn
  2. Ball Roll Spin
  3. Stepover Combo
  4. Kneel Header

The first three give attackers more options when taking on defenders, while the Kneel Header is designed around aerial finishing.

These additions also fit into FC 27’s wider focus on giving players more control over important moments. EA’s official Gameplay Deep Dive highlights a move toward less automation, more manual defending, smarter attacking movement, and greater variety when attacking.

1. Fake Turn

The Fake Turn is all about making the defender believe you’re going one way before quickly moving in another.

Rather than committing to a full turn, your player sells the movement and then bursts away in the opposite direction. This makes it particularly useful when a defender is closely following your movement and is waiting for you to choose a direction.

A well-timed Fake Turn can force the defender to shift their body position before you move away.

How and When to Use Fake Turn

The move should be particularly useful in situations where you have limited space and need to make a defender commit.

Try using it when:

  • Facing a defender one-on-one
  • Cutting inside from the wing
  • Approaching the edge of the penalty area
  • Receiving the ball with a defender close behind
  • Looking to create a quick shooting or passing lane

The key is not to overuse it. If you repeatedly perform the same fake, experienced defenders can learn to anticipate it. The biggest strength of the Fake Turn is the element of surprise.

If you can make a manually controlled defender commit in the wrong direction, the resulting space could be enough to get past them.

2. Ball Roll Spin

The Ball Roll Spin combines a ball roll with a quick change of direction, allowing the attacker to move the ball across their body before spinning away from pressure.

Ball rolls have traditionally been useful for moving around defenders without relying on a complicated skill sequence. The Ball Roll Spin takes that idea further by adding a sharper change of direction.

Instead of simply moving the ball sideways, the player can use the movement to turn away from the defender and attack the space behind them.

How and When to Use Ball Roll Spin

This move should be most effective when a defender is close enough to challenge but hasn’t fully committed to a tackle.

Use it to:

  • Escape a tight marker
  • Change direction near the box
  • Turn away from pressure
  • Create a new passing angle
  • Move into open space after receiving the ball

It could also be useful in midfield when you’re trying to avoid a defender without completely stopping your momentum.

Ball Roll Spin vs. a Normal Ball Roll

A normal ball roll is primarily a lateral movement. It can help you shift the ball away from a tackle or move around an opponent. The Ball Roll Spin adds another layer by allowing the attacker to turn away after moving the ball.

That makes it potentially more useful when you want to escape pressure rather than simply move past a defender.

3. Stepover Combo

The Stepover Combo gives players a new way to use one of the most recognisable skill moves in football games. Instead of performing a single stepover and immediately changing direction, the move allows multiple stepovers to be chained together into a longer sequence.

The idea is simple: make the defender wait.

Each additional stepover can make your eventual direction harder to predict, giving you more time to watch the defender and decide when to accelerate away.

How and When to Use the Stepover Combo

The Stepover Combo could be especially effective when you’re isolated against a defender.

Consider using it:

  • On the wing
  • Near the corner of the penalty area
  • During a one-on-one
  • When trying to cut inside
  • Before accelerating into open space

For example, a winger could use the move to make a full-back hesitate before suddenly changing direction and attacking the space behind them.

Don’t Spam the Stepover Combo

More stepovers don’t necessarily mean a better result. If you keep chaining the move without reacting to the defender, you could give your opponent enough time to position themselves correctly.

The better approach is to use the sequence to read the defender. Once they move their body or commit to a direction, that’s your opportunity to exit the animation and accelerate into the available space.

4. Kneel Header

The Kneel Header is arguably the most unusual of the four new FC 27 skill moves. Unlike the previous ones, the Kneel Header isn’t designed to help you dribble past a defender. Instead, it gives attackers a new way to make contact with an aerial ball.

The player drops onto one knee while attempting to redirect the incoming ball, creating a distinctive finishing animation that can be particularly effective during crosses and other aerial situations.

How and When to Use Kneel Header

The Kneel Header should be most relevant when attacking crosses and aerial deliveries.

Potential situations include:

  • Crosses into the penalty area
  • Near-post deliveries
  • Low or awkward aerial balls
  • Crowded attacking situations
  • Unexpected finishing opportunities

It could also make aerial attacks less predictable because defenders won’t always know exactly how the attacker will attempt to make contact with the ball.

FC 27 New Skill Moves Controls

The four new moves are confirmed in current FC 27 reporting, but official controller inputs have not yet been published by EA.
