Horses

Horses in Crimson Desert are among the best and most useful mounts you can get. You receive a basic horse right after finishing the prologue, making early travel much easier. They’re perfect for covering long distances, especially across flat terrain. As you progress, you can discover legendary horses that offer better stats and unique abilities compared to regular ones. To unlock their locations, complete the legendary wolf quest. This will reveal all legendary animals on your map, helping you find the best mounts faster.

Bears

Once you reach Pailune, you’ll find wild bears and fighters riding black bears. If you weaken a bear, you can temporarily ride it. While mounted, the bear will follow your commands and attack enemies, staying friendly until you dismount. To unlock a permanent bear mount, defeat the White Bear in Crimson Desert. After defeating it, skin the bear to get a special item. Take this to any witch in Pywel to craft the Sigil of Solidarity. Use it to unlock the powerful white bear mount, which has high health and attacks enemies even without a rider.

Silver Fang Wolf

To unlock the permanent Silver Fang Wolf in Crimson Desert, first complete the legendary wolf quest that also reveals all legendary animal locations on the map. Like the legendary white bear, this wolf can fight alongside you when summoned. After finishing the quest, head to Howling Hollow Cave, located south of the Ancient Rift in Hernand, and defeat the silver wolf inside. Then, visit a witch and craft the Sigil of Solidarity to make Silver Fang your permanent mount.

Rock Tusk Warthog

The Rock Tusk Warthog is a legendary mount you can unlock by defeating a boss. You’ll find it in the jungle area between Delesyia and the Crimson Desert, far east of Hernand. While it doesn’t have great stamina for long travel, it’s perfect for combat. If you want a mount that can charge straight into battle and deal damage, this warthog is a strong and aggressive choice.

Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex

The Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex is another legendary mount you can unlock, similar to the White Bear. But instead of hunting it, you’ll need to defeat a boss in Western Pailune. This boss rides the Ibex and uses a bow, making the fight tricky, especially with other hunters and mounted archers supporting him. Make sure you’re well-prepared before taking him on. In terms of performance, the Ibex is quite similar to a regular horse, but it doesn’t have the special abilities that make legendary horses more useful.

Wagons

Wagons are a practical way to travel and earn money in the game. You can ride most horse-drawn wagons found across the world, and they function similarly to regular horse mounts. The key difference is that wagons can be sold to black market dealers for a good profit. Players can get wagons by hijacking them from merchants, stealing parked ones along the road, or taking them back from bandits who have stolen them.

Cloudcart

The Cloudcart is a hot air balloon-style mount and one of the first mechanical rides you’ll unlock in the game. You can use it by completing the House Grace faction questline in Hernand, and later even craft your own once you have the blueprint. While it’s not as fast or powerful as Blackstar, it becomes available much earlier in the story. You can also upgrade the Cloudcart after finishing a quest for the main research NPC at the Scholastone Institute, making it more useful as you progress.

A.T.A.G. Mech

The A.T.A.G. Mech is a compact combat walker built for heavy battles. It comes equipped with missile launchers, machine guns, and electric field abilities, making it highly effective against most enemies. You can find these mechs in special hangars located in Gorthak. After completing quests for the Ironflame Orcs, you’ll unlock your own ATAG. Once obtained, you can summon it anytime and use its powerful arsenal to dominate enemies across Pywel.

Special and Temporary Mounts

Temporary Animal Mounts

Some animals in the game can also be used as mounts, but only for a short time. These include:

  • Lions
  • Elephants
  • Giant Rock Lizards
  • Kuku Birds

Lizards and Kuku Birds are used as mounts by certain enemy factions (Goldenscale Bandits in the Crimson Desert and Blinding Arrows in Demeniss, respectively). Meanwhile, you can find elephants in the Demeniss Wildlife Park just south of the city.

Dragon

After you finish the main story, you unlock Blackstar, a powerful dragon linked to the Abyss protectors. He can run, fly, and breathe fire, making him a strong mount for combat. At first, you can only summon him once every 50 minutes. But once you get Narima’s Horn, this cooldown is completely removed, letting you use Blackstar anytime you want.

Boats

Rowboats can be found across Pywel and are useful for crossing large bodies of water. However, these boats aren’t ownable, so you can’t keep one for yourself. If you need a more reliable way to travel, flying mounts are a better option. Alternatively, you can use abilities like triple jump combined with Force Palm to glide across water and reach your destination quickly.

Trains

Trains aren’t exactly mounts, but you can still ride them in Crimson Desert. As they travel across regions like Crimson Desert and Delesyia, you’ll occasionally spot them moving along the tracks. If you time it right, you can grapple onto a passing train and hop on for a free ride. It’s a fun and easy way to travel without using a traditional mount.
