Released half a year ago, Borderlands 4 is finally receiving its first post-launch content, including new main and side missions, a new vault hunter, a map, bosses, enemy types, loot, and much more. Named Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, the story pack DLC will be released alongside a free major update on the same day, bringing with it a handful of highly-requested features. In addition to the fresh main and side quests featuring Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, which takes players to a new area in Kairos known as The Whispering Glacier, players can also take on the role of the new Vault Hunter, C4SH. This character’s abilities are centered around the innovative Fortune and Windfall mechanics. Furthermore, players can expect to encounter new enemies, including 2 significant bosses and 16 minibosses, as well as new Pearlescent weapons, Legendary gear, and collectible cosmetics.
Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned Main and Side Missions
The first Story Pack DLC for Borderlands 4 centers around new main story missions featuring Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. In this DLC, we see the beloved character Ellie back in action as she aims to take down a new danger, which is a threat to Kairos, found in The Whispering Glacier. Additionally, fans of Borderlands 3’s Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC will be thrilled to see Mancubus Bloodtooth make a comeback, transitioning from his role managing The Lodge on Xylourgos to assist the player on this adventure with new story missions, side missions, activities, and collectibles. Furthermore, all the characters returning to this DLC include Ellie, Mancubus Bloodtooth, Pickle, and Crazy Earl.
New Vault Hunter in Borderlands 4
One of the main highlights of the Borderlands 4 Story Pack 1 DLC is the new playable character, C4SH, who is joining Vex, Rafa, Harlow, and Amon as the latest Vault Hunter in the looter-shooter series. What makes this worth looking forward to is that C4SH will bring new gameplay features. What is unique about him is that he is a former CasinoBot who gained a mystical card deck complete with eldritch abilities after winning in a high-stakes card game, which makes his gameplay revolve around luck and manipulating the odds to his advantage. His action skills mainly include Cross-Fire, Sleight of Hand, and Cleromancy.
New Map: The Whispering Glacier
With the new DLC, the players will be entering a brand new map called the Whispering Glacier, where the atmosphere is filled with Eridium spikes, rivers of blood, and flesh growths. It will feel similar if you are a fan of Borderlands 3’s Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC, which showcased a comparable environment on the map of Xylourgos. Additionally, The Whispering Glacier offers a unique take on the World Boss mechanic from Borderlands 4, allowing players to engage with eldritch trees for a chance at a random boss encounter.

As the DLC rolls out, players will be able to test C4SH against a variety of new enemies, including several enemies returning from The Pre-Sequel, such as Kraggons, Scavs, and DAHL Legion Soldiers, alongside two new major boss fights and 16 minibosses. Additionally, Borderlands 4 is getting a ton of new loot in the expansion, including 2 new Legendary Shields, 2 new Legendary Grenades, 2 new Legendary Heavy Weapons, 5 new Legendary Class Mods (1 per Vault Hunter), 10 new Legendary Weapons, and 3 Pearlescent weapons. Borderlands 4 Story Pack 1 DLC Release Date
The awaited Borderlands 4 Story Pack 1 DLC is all set to release on March 26, 2026, on all the storefronts the game is available on, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Featuring tons of new content, including new main missions, side missions, vault hunter, map, bosses, enemy types, loot, and much more, making this DLC a steal deal, especially if you are a Borderlands fan. Players should know that this content is included with Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition and the Borderlands 4 Vault Hunter Pack, and is also available for separate purchase.
Borderlands 4 Major Update 1.5
What makes March 26 an even bigger day for the fans of Borderlands 4 is that the Story Pack 1 DLC is not the only new content launching on the very day. So the players who don’t want to invest in the DLC can still experience new features via the free Borderlands 4 v1.5 update as well. To be precise, this update aims to bring a couple of highly requested features to the game. The most important and the first one is shared progression. And the second is the increase to the level cap by 10, taking Borderlands 4’s level cap from 50 to 60.
This is great news for players who have already reached the maximum level with their character and are looking forward to enhancing their build even further. Perhaps even more thrilling is the introduction of shared progression among all of a player’s Borderlands 4 characters. This means that items such as SDU unlocks, map progress, Vault Fragments, Glide Pack upgrades, and more will be accessible across the player’s account. Being able to access these features right from the start will significantly enhance the viability of starting a C4SH build for players. Especially those who have already finished the main storyline of Borderlands 4.
