Product description

Mafia II (PC) - Steam - Digital Code

A 2010 action-adventure title called Mafia II was created by 2K Czech and released by 2K Games. It was made available in August for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows. The game is the follow-up to Mafia from 2002 and the second in the Mafia series. The story revolves around young Sicilian-American mobster and war veteran Vito Scaletta, who gets entangled in a power struggle between the Mafia crime families in the city while attempting to repay his father's debts and establish a better lifestyle with his best friend. The story is set in a town full of Empire Bay between 1945 and 1951.

The game's world can be explored on foot or by car, and it is played from a third-person perspective. A "wanted" system that controls the aggressivity of the response from law enforcement agencies can be triggered by the player character's criminal activity. 2003 saw the start of development, not long after the original Mafia game was released. At the time of its release, Mafia II received generally favourable reviews from critics, who praised it for its gameplay, story, and characters while criticising its limited world design and the absence of some elements found in other sandbox games.

Gameplay:

The action-adventure game Mafia II is played from a third-person perspective and set in an open universe.

  • Most of the game takes place in the mid-1940s and early 1950s in the fictional metropolis of Empire Bay, which is modelled after New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, and Detroit.
  • The primary modes of play are shooting and driving; a minor melee fighting system that combines punching and dodging is also present. The game features licenced music and 50 period-appropriate cars.
  • Vehicle handling varies throughout the game according to the weather. For instance, the ice on the roads during the first few weeks of winter increases the likelihood of vehicle slippage.
  • Two action buttons are available for interacting with the environment's objects: a conventional action and a "violent" action, which may only be utilised in specific circumstances. For instance, when robbing a car, the player can pick the lock or smash the window.
  • The checkpoint mechanism has been redesigned, although the map is the same as in the original Mafia game. Instead of only crouching behind foes as in the first game, the new controls incorporate a cover system that enables players to hide behind objects and shoot enemies. This element, which offers tactical support against foes, has developed into a critical tactic for the genre.
