These character rankings are based on a variety of different factors that we have mentioned later down. We have ranked all ZZZ characters in separate tiers, not leaving any single one so you don’t have to check elsewhere.
This Zenless Zone Zero tier list will be quite helpful for new players, and those returning players who might not be familiar with the current meta. HoyoVerse likes to drop big patches that buff or nerf characters constantly, resulting in constant meta shifts. You can see the characters like Jane and Ellen in this tier, some of the early strong units who have been pushed down with the constant meta changes.
C-Tier ZZZ Characters

Build but carefully. That’s all when it comes to giving advice on the characters included in this tier. While they definitely deserve some buffs, they aren’t the worst in the game. If you’re a beginner, chances are you might be using them to make progress. And, there’s nothing wrong with it. Since Zenless Zone Zero has no proper PvP game mode, users can feel free to test out different stuff for fun.
D-Tier ZZZ Characters

If you’re looking for the worst of all the ZZZ characters, then this tier will certainly give you clarity. Avoid, avoid, and avoid! Do not build them at any cost, or at least don’t take it too far. Yes, you can use them in the starting levels but the gacha system unlocks after completing prologue missions. And, it certainly offers better characters than the starting ones in this tier.
Zenless Zone Zero Character Roles Explained
If you are not able to build an effective Zenless Zone Zero team, then you likely don’t know what are the constituting factors. You see, each character in Zenless Zone Zero falls into one of 3 roles. Each character role in ZZZ is important and needs to be understood in order to formulate a good team. These character roles are as follows:
- Attack/Crit DPS – These characters are classified as normal attackers as they bring tons of physical damage with their kits. Yes, they excel at dealing direct and constant damage to enemies. Make sure to build them with high crit rate and crit damage to maximize their overall DPS.
- Anomaly DPS – In Zenless Zone Zero, the concept of elemental attributes exist. Some characters can directly inflict elemental statuses with their abilities that can form or trigger anomalies. This causes massive damage to the enemy, much more than simply doing direct damage. It’s important to take some anomaly DPS character in your squads as well.
- Support – The classic support role is filled in by these characters. Want heals for your squishy DPS? Support is there to help. Want to inflict powerful debuffs on enemies, while buffing your own self? Supporters do the job!
Zenless Zero Tier List Factors Explained
In this section, we will keep the promise made above. We will explain the core factors that were taken into account while forming our Zenless Zone Zero tier list. While there aren’t a lot of things to factor in, we tried to find some commonality to rank all characters accordingly. Hence, consider them some benchmarks to track and rank all characters. The factors are as follows:
- Rarity of the Character – The base rarity of each Zenless Zone Zero character is taken into account when forming this ZZZ tier list. This is because the base rarity directly affects the base stats of the characters. The higher the rarity (for example, 5-star), the stronger the character is considered.
- Usability in All Game Modes – Staying true to this factor was the biggest hurdle while crafting our ZZZ tier list. Since each character performs somewhat differently in different game modes, thanks to unique mechanics, it’s tough to solely judge them based on a single one. Hence, we averaged out the rankings based on their performance in all game modes.
- Community Sentiments and Rankings – Since we are making this ZZZ tier list for the community at large, it would be outright rude if we didn’t take their help. So, we checked the various ZZZ community tier lists that were publicly available. Took into account some of the rankings of popular characters from there as well.
