Struggling to build that perfect team for a specific game mode? Our Wuthering Waves tier list answers all your questions as to which are the strongest characters in the current meta. It’s important to know which characters are good as it takes a lot of time and investment to build one from scratch. WuWa offers a strategic action combat, mixed with open-world RPG elements.
The gacha element of Wuthering Waves is what keeps the game fresh as new characters are often released via this system. Players can acquire the strongest characters via different banners, released periodically in the form of new events. Let’s start this Wuthering Waves tier list, right with the best characters listed below!

Wuthering Waves characters who were too powerful for their own good are in this tier. While they could be ranked higher with a buff, this tier also contains characters like Jinhsi who got hit with a nerfhammer. You can use them in any game mode, and they are likely to perform. That’s how good they are considered by the community as well as in general.
B-Tier Wuthering Waves Characters
- Calcharo
- Encore
- Rover (Spectro)
- Yinlin
- Rover (Havoc)
- Rover (Aero)
- Xiangliao
- Buling
- Mortefi
- DanJin
If you were waiting for any of the owned characters to appear in any tier in our WuWa tier list, then this is perhaps the right place. We like to call this tier the “average joes”. Characters placed here are neither too good or bad in the current meta. Consider them usable but not exceptional. Although, some of them like Calcharo can shoot up in rankings with a slight buff.
C-Tier Wuthering Waves Characters
- Jianxin
- Lingyang
- Aalto
- Yuanwu
- Chixia
- Baizhi
Many users might detest us for putting their favourite WuWa character in low-tiers but that’s just how the community thinks about it in general. Since the game has no real PvP modes, you are free to build and use any character. Sadly, there are some inherent areas like rarity, abilities, and utility, where some of them lack. And, that’s why the characters are put in this tier.
D-Tier Wuthering Waves Characters
- Yangyang
- Taoqi
- Youhu
- Lumi
The worst of the bunch. Put it simply, this tier harbors the weakest characters in Wuthering Waves. Players are advised to avoid using them, and even building them. Unless, of course, you are a new player. Still, resources are wasted if you build them as their replacements will be mandatory once you reach a specific level.
Wuthering Waves Character Roles Explained
It takes a lot of time to build a strong and apt Wuthering Waves team. To that measure, it’s firstly important to learn about each character’s role. This will give you a clear understanding of what to expect from each type of character. Much like many modern RPGs with team-building mechanics, Wuthering Waves character roles are also a thing. Each role provides a different kind of utility for the team. Check out the roles and their uses below:
- Damage Dealers (DPS) – Ah, the classic and timeless role of damage dealers. These are your sparky and shiny flame-breathing, ice-shattering characters whose only job is to eliminate any enemy in sight. That too, in the shortest possible timeframe. You can never go wrong with having strong DPS characters built.
- Hybrid – Hybrid characters are used to describe those resonators who can deal damage but also give supportive utility to allied team members. Hence, they are not entirely focused towards one role. They are usually enablers that can set up your damage dealers to run rampant on the enemies.
- Support – Support-type resonators are important to have in any good Wuthering Wave team. They often form the backbone of teams, allowing players to use squishy damage dealers without the fear of losing them in battles. Supports provide heals, buffs, and even debuffs on the table, making the action gameplay even more interesting.
Wuthering Waves Tier List Factors
It took us a lot of time and effort to curate these rankings for our Wuthering Wave tier list. Although, we did cheat a bit. We formed the tier list based on several factors that gave us information on how strong each character is. Interested to know which were the factors? Check them out:
- Rarity – Each character in Wuthering Waves is assigned a base rarity, such as 4-star or 5-stars. Depending on the rarity of the character, their base stats are decided. The higher the rarity, the superior the base stats of the character. Hence, our primary motivation to rank characters was based on their base rarity.
- Performance in All Game Modes – In Wuthering Waves, PvE and PvP game modes both exist. Hence, we compared the character’s usage in all game modes before arriving at a conclusion of which tier to place them in.
- Community Rankings – As always, the community remains to be our targeted focus when curating this Wuthering Waves tier list. So, we took into account many of the reputable character rankings offered by veterans of the game.
