We have some news about the G.O.A.T game installment! The first GTA 6 Trailer broke the internet when it dropped on 5th December 2023. Since then, fans have been exploding with excitement for every piece of news arriving about the greatest franchise in history. Sources have confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch in 2025. But, why is GTA 6 not coming to PC? Let’s find out why!
Statement from Former Developer
An ex-game developer at Rockstar, Mike York, has spoken on his YouTube channel about this concern. He explains how PlayStation has a wider range of audience and sells the most copies. The team is currently prioritizing console versions and aims to release them for PlayStation and Xbox at launch in 2025. This is because they are more popular among gamers and are surely to have a much higher sales potential.
“The reason why a PC port comes later and not the first thing that comes out, is because they want to prioritize what sells,” said Mike York. “Most of the time, especially in the past, PlayStation was the big seller. PlayStation was the console to have. It sold more than any other console for the most part.”
A PC has Different Requirements
It must be sad for PC gamers, but GTA 6 is being skipped for PC for a few more reasons. York said, “One of the main reasons why a PC port will take so long is because [PCs have] different architecture and different components. A PlayStation and an Xbox, each have one graphics card, and it’s the same architecture inside the box as every single PlayStation that’s shipped to millions of people. But when it comes to a PC, every single person has a different PC.”
He explains how GTA 6 is a massive and complicated game and would not be so easy and quick to develop for PC. It would require too much extra work for the team and the endless testing processes would be too difficult. This is why GTA 6 is not coming to PC at launch, and we totally understand this. By focusing on consoles first, Rockstar can deliver a polished experience while working on a stable, high-quality version for PC players later. Though this statement is given by the former developer, we still have no official word from Rockstar.
PC Gamers will Have to Wait
Grand Theft Auto has been a fan-favorite forever and the growing excitement about the next installment is completely normal. So, GTA 6 will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch. Though we are expecting a PC version in the future. The statement by Mike York did give us an understanding of what’s going on. But we still want more updates. It looks like PC gamers will have to wait, but they can still enjoy the game on consoles when it is released. Moreover, let’s hope for a GTA 6 release date to be announced soon!
