Love Borderlands and BioShock? Then cheer up because a new game, Wartorn, with similar action and roguelite elements is announced! This new chaotic real-time strategy game is currently under development and will launch in spring 2025 for PC in Early Access. It’s gonna feature some really interesting fantasy creatures, an intense combat system, and strategic replayability. So, let’s find out more about it.
The Developers
Former developers from BioShock, Borderlands, and Age of Empires, have joined forces and formed Stray Kite Studios. Founded in 2018, it is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. After working on some great game franchises, we are so excited about what their team product would look like.
Now, they’re coming up with this new RTS game Wartorn in 2025, after working on some other minor projects over the years like maps for Fortnite, subtitles for A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure, and more. Thus, Wartorn is their first-ever original title that will tell an interesting tale with a rich narrative.
Wartorn Plot
Wartorn is a single-player, squad-based adventure with intense real-time battles. The plot will follow two elven sisters, Yara and Elani, striving to reunite with their family and their adventure along the way. They must travel through the chaotic and dangerous Isles of Talaur to reach the safety of Beynun, their ancestral fortress. Also, on their way, they need to make difficult choices, use special abilities, and win tough battles. The game will feature destructible environments and difficult decisions to make throughout.
Fantasy Elements
Being a fantasy rogue-lite, Wartorn features mythical creatures like goblins, elves, demons, tree folk, and more. You will build your squad with these creatures with strategic recruitment and attention. Each unit brings some skills and advantages with them so choose carefully. Plus, your squad can use various powers like that of fire, water, tar, electricity, and so on. Furthermore, you can also replay any level to aim for a better performance.

Wartorn is the new game announced by the former developers of BioShock, Borderlands, and Age of Empires and is expected to be a blast. Being a rogue-lite experience set in a wartorn world, it is going to be very challenging. What makes it more exciting is the crew of fantasy creatures you will recruit and team up with.
