Hello to all Mana fans! The wait is almost over. On August 29, 2024, Visions of Mana will finally launch and become the next big thing in this Mana series. It’s an action role-playing game developed by Ouka Studios and published by Square Enix. It will appear on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. First announced in 2021, Visions of Mana has been on the radar of RPG lovers for a while. Also super exciting, it marks the return of legends from the series: designer/director Koichi Ishii, producer Masaru Oyamada, and composers Hiroki Kikuta, Tsuyoshi Sekito, and Ryo Yamazaki. Storyline
In Visions of Mana, you play the role of a young lad named Val from the Fire Village of Tianeea. Things start with your childhood friend, Hinna, bidding you farewell so she can complete her pilgrimage to the holy Mana Tree. That tree is essential, as it controls the flow of Mana throughout their world. Val, being his great friend, takes on the role of protector—or “Soul Guard”—for Hinna in her journey.
But Val isn’t alone in his quest. Joining him is Morley, a cat-man with great speed and a mysterious past, too; Careena, the “One-Winged Oracle,” half-human and half-dragon, always accompanied by her young dragon companion Ramcoh; and this diverse team that navigates through several trials and tribulations that come its way.
Gameplay: Jump into Real-Time Combat
For those for whom this is all about action gaming, Visions of Mana doesn’t drop the ball with real-time combat in a “semi-open world.” What does that mean? Think of large maps you can wander around while progressing with the story. Sounds like a hoot.
You can control any one of the three party members at a time; all of them have different skills and special abilities. After all, this game brings a pretty cool mechanic to the table—the so-called Spirit Vessels. These items can open different combat classes for each character, and you can switch them to grant new abilities and strong attacks known as Class Strikes. Val: The main protagonist is Tianeea, the chief of the village of fire. He’s fearless, loyal, and ready to face any danger to protect his friends.
Hinna is a childhood friend of the hero, Val, who is on a pilgrimage to the Mana Tree. She’s wise beyond her years and central to the story.
Morley is a quick and agile feline man. Although he carries a lot of heavy baggage from his past, he’s truly a sweet guy.
Careena is the One-Wing Oracle, half-human and half-dragoness. She is accompanied everywhere by her trusty dragon companion, Ramcoh. She’s not someone to trifle with and packs a real wallop for the team.
