Saving Matt
Matt is The Matt, the character who makes or breaks your survival run. Keeping him alive can be something of an ordeal, but follow these steps:
- Chapter Five: Disagree with Emily about going to the fire tower. She may insist, but this argument is going to affect further choices.
- Chapter Six: When an elk comes before him, he should not swing the axe; he has to move forward peacefully. He is carrying the flare gun, and when Emily falls, he has to save her twice and shoot with the flare gun.
- Chapter Ten: Like Jessica, you must remain and not move whenever the Wendigo is near. And naturally, remember to catch Jessica if she falls!
How to Save Chris
Chris has his fair share of life-or-death decisions, too. Here’s how to ensure he lives to tell the tale:
- Chapter Six: The intense scene forces Chris to decide between shooting himself and Ashley. He chooses to shoot himself. It’s a pointless shot, but it’ll save them both in the long run.
- Chapter Eight: If you shoot the targets as the Wendigo chases you, Chris will survive this encounter.
- Chapter Nine: As Ashley, don’t exclude Chris. Keep him close to your side and stop investigating the voice down the trapdoor, or you might die too early.
How to Save Emily
Saving Emily can be tricky as well in her thrilling chases. This is what you should do:
- Chapter Eight: When being chased by the Wendigo, you must go left in the elevator. Save time with that, and you will miss the QTEs.
- Chase Time: Get off the conveyor belt and exit the safety of it to avoid being caught. Remember to close the door behind her to delay the arrival of the Wendigo.
- Chapter Ten: Emily will be shot if Mike fears the bite she has taken. Make sure he doesn’t pull the trigger!
Saving Ashley
Ashley’s rescue is pretty straightforward, but a couple of choices are critical in Until Dawn:

Remember the wolf! Befriend it in Chapter Nine, keep it safe from the Wendigo, and you’re rewarded with a trophy. It’s not all about humans!
