Rockstar Games has pulled all the stops and delivered jaw-dropping visuals, a never-before-seen immersive open world, and characters. But while most fans focused on Vice City, the chaos and TikTok-style edits, one subtle scene quietly slipped under the radar. A moment in the GTA 6 trailer 2 feelt straight from a iconic crime thriller film from 1995, Heat. And it might just be the biggest clue about the story of GTA 6.

GTA 6 Trailer 2 Leaks

Grand Theft Auto Games have always been known for their satirical takes and clever nods to the world of pop culture. From Tony Montana Scarface mansion in Vice City to the mafia underwrold of GTA 3 and IV. Rockstar’s writers have never shied away from paying homage to classic crime stories and characters.

Let’s take a closer look at one GTA 6 Trailer 2 detail that everyone missed. And how it answers about the GTA 6 story, number of main missions and it’s story length.

GTA 6 Trailer 2: Story Hint and Movie Reference

GTA 6 Trailer 2 Details

The second trailer for GTA 6 not only showcased brilliant visuals and gameplay elements but also quietly dropped teases for its story. Among all the chaos, one major moment stood out for fans who were paying attention to even the last-minute details, and that was a robbery scene featuring Jason and Lucia. Which Rockstar Games later expanded on via the official GTA 6 website. In particular, the brief promotional clip from the site showcases an intense shot of Raul Bautista caught in a shootout with Jason and Lucia in the background. The scene is most probably an extension of the chase sequence at Time 1:58 in GTA 6 Trailer 2.

The scene at 1:58 in the gta 6 trailer 2, where the protganists are being pursed by law enforcement. With its website clip, is a mission in the mid game in GTA 6’s story, where a bank heists goes wrong. Leading to a chaotic gunfight with a heavy police presence, ending with an intense cops and robbers showdown and escape, through the streets of Vice City.

The Heat Reference

The website clip on Rockstar’s website and part of that mission is clearly a direct homage to Michael Mann’s 1995 classic crime film, Heat. Specifically, the unforgettable downtown LA bank shootout scene. Where Robert De Niro’s Neil McCauley, Val Kilmer’s Chris and Tom Sizemore’s Michael are caught in a bank robbery gone wrong. Faceing intense police respond led by Lt Vincent Hanna, a LAPD Detective played by the one and only Al Pacino.

For fans of the film, both the GTA 6 Trailer 2 and movie scene parallels are instantly clear. Raul’s tactical stance, attention to detail are a straight recall of Val Kilmer’s character Chris, almost frame to frame.

This Heat reference in GTA 6 is more than a tip of the hat to the legendary filmmaker and his work, but something more. This scene hints at what the GTA 6 story can evolve into. How the Jason and Lucia crew might not just be a duo but a full crew. Something that the players could build upon while progressing through the GTA 6 Story.

What the “Heat” Reference Tells Us About GTA 6 Story

GTA 6 Heat

If Rockstar Games is truly taking cues from the movie, Heat. There’s a strong chance Jason and Lucia’s journey might end in betrayal, tragedy, or both. If all signs point to yes, then GTA 6 may be setting up a narrative filled with so much depth and emotional weight never seen in a Grand Theft Auto game before.

Lucia Bank mission

Let’s break down all the possibilities for the GTA 6 Story and its character arcs based on the GTA & Heat reference.

GTA 6 Story Speculations

1) Jason and Lucia are more than just Bonnie and Clyde

Jason and Lucia

Jason and Lucia’s chemistry throughout the trailers is undeniable. But like the movie Heat, Jason and Lucia seem to share a deep criminal bond and connections to the illicit. A bond forged by shared risk and reward. Rockstar might further the stakes with emotional depth, and the trust between the two can be at stake throughout the story.

2) A Crew That Grows and Then Collapses

GTA 6 Crew

It is now widely known that Heists will play a major role in the story of GTA 6, with the reveal of many crew members and allies. One prominent face that shows up is that of Raul Bautista, a seasoned bank robber. Much like Heat’s elite heist team, the dynamic can be of Raul building a crew for complex missions and heists, with the crew growing over time. But this being GTA, expect cracks to form from greed, loyalty issues, or law enforcement pressure that could drive members to flip, flee, or betray the group.

3) Vice City is More Than Just a Backdrop

Vice City GTA 6

In the movie Heat, Los Angeles wasn’t just a backdrop; it was part of the story. GTA games have always made their cities serve the same purpose. The GTA 6 map will play a larger role with the inclusion of different regions like Ambrosia, Port Gellhorn, Leonida Keys, and even Mount Kalaga playing a major role in shaping the story. Each location will bring a host of different characters from all forms of life and backgrounds.

4) What Goes Around Comes Around

While most gaming characters rise before they fall (some never do), Heat offers a much bleaker tale. Where there is no one true winner, everyone has to pay the price, and from the looks of the cops’ involvement in the trailers. The GTA 6 story is going to be much darker than ever before. This part is kind of confirmed where Jason and Lucia will be pushed to their breaking points. Forced into riskier heists and eventually betrayals from those they trust most. (I am looking at you, Raul)

6) GTA 6 Story Ending and Final Mission

Final Mission in GTA VI

If GTA 6 mirrors the tale of Heat, then we could be looking at a bittersweet ending and a much darker end to its tale. Whether it’s Lucia being forced to take Jason down or Vice* versa (Pun intended), or maybe one of them has to escape while the other pays the price. Rockstar may lean into emotional storytelling to create a lasting impact. Think less “crime pays” and more “crime consumes.”

How Long Will the GTA 6 Story Be?

Many GTA 6 leaks over the last few months hint at a larger campaign mode than GTA 5. With two protagonists, the story will be somewhat similar in size and length when compared to previous Rockstar titles. The GTA 6 Main Story RUmors have it that the GTA 6 Story and all its main missions will last around 35-45 hours in gameplay. And Every side mission and encounter will stretch the game to a whopping 80+ hours of gameplay.

GTA 5 100% Completion
GTA V 100% Story Mode Completetion

And most likely, a GTA 6 100% Completetion will take somewhere from 100 to 150 hours of gameplay. With all gold medal missions, side missions, random encounters, hobbies, collectibles, challenges and more.

RDR 2 Gang

But we can say with full confidence that the GTA 6 Story, with main missions only, will be shorter than Red Dead Redemption 2. When looking at RDR 2, the reason its story mode stretched to 50-60 hours. Was the slow backtracking and horse rides across its map. That will be cut short in GTA 6 as players will be able to roam across the map in faster vehicles. Including Cars, Bikes, Choppers, Planes, and more.

Comparison to Previous Rockstar Games
