One of the biggest surprises from this year’s Game Awards was surely the reveal of The Witcher 4. The game has long been in development and a trailer reveal from CD Projekt Red has sent waves across the internet. The trailer revealed Ciri as the new protagonist for The Witcher 4 and has many fans excited with the choice and amped for the next fantasy RPG offering by CD Projekt Red.
Ciri as the New Protagonist
Fans had long hoped for a Witcher game with Ciri as the protagonist and now their dreams might finally come true. The Witcher 4 trailer confirmed Ciri as the Witcher for the game and the story will follow Ciri’s journey as a full-blown Witcher. This was expected as Geralt of Rivia’s story ended with The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and the new saga continued with Cirila at the helm.
CD Projekt Red had this to say about Ciri as the new protagonist for The Witcher 4 “It feels so good to finally be able to say those words, for the longest time we knew that we wanted Ciri to be the protagonist of The Witcher IV; it just felt natural to us and we believe that Ciri deserves it. In this game, we want to explore what it means to truly become a witcher by following Ciri on her Path.”
The Witcher 4 Trailer
The reveal trailer for The Witcher 4 opened up with a ritual in a village, with a young girl being prepared for some sort of omen sacrifice. This is where Ciri is shown as the Witcher in the scene in between the ritual. Ciri follows the girl into a dark crevice where she comes face to face with a monstrosity and fights it off in true Witcher fashion, with the use of signs, magic, potions, and swordplay.
The Trailer was pre-rendered in the in-game engine The Unreal Engine 5 and utilized an announced NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU.
Summary
The announcement of Ciri as the new protagonist for The Witcher 4 has sparked excitement and anticipation among fans eager for the next installment in the Witcher Series.
