Developed by Stray Fawn Studio, The Wandering Village is a city-building survival strategy game, which is scheduled to release later this month. The game first launched in early access for PC via Steam back on September 14, 2022. Gamers, while trying the early access, loved the out-of-the-box idea of building a human settlement on the back of a giant creature and building a relationship in the process. The positive feedback from the players allowed developers to mark the full release of the game.
The Wandering Village Overview
In a toxic world overrun by deadly plants, survivors seek refuge on the back of a massive creature called Onbu. You will be the leader of the settlement, tasked with the duty of building a new settlement on the back of the creature while also forming a relationship with the creature. In the process, you will be watching out for any danger, growing your village, and ensuring the survival of your people and Onbu.
Even though your villages will need to harvest materials from the creature’s body, you will need to ensure that Onbu is strong and healthy at all times. Ensure that Onbu continues to walk away from the spores and towards a safer place.

At its core, The Wandering Village is a city-building and resource-management game with survival elements. As a leader, you must expand the village, maintain its harmony for the villagers ,and also build a relationship with the Onbu. Carrying you and your village across it’s back and moving across the game world.
One of the primary characters in The Wandering Village is Onbu. While you do build a settlement on its back and form a relationship, it’s vital to maintain its health at all times. The ultimate goal here is for both humans and the creature to settle down and live in peace again.
- Survival: Escape from the toxic spores and keep your villagers and the creature alive against new threats.
- Symbiosis: Live in harmony with the giant creature and form a relationship with it as you trek together through the post-apocalyptic world.
- Building: Build an infrastructure where people can live together, work together, and survive together.
- Farming: Plant, cultivate, and harvest various crops to keep your villagers and the creatures fed and healthy, or grow new kinds of resources.
- Foraging: Send scouting parties to explore different biomes surrounding you, discover rare resources, and bring them back to the village.
Release Date and Platform
After its early access release for PC on Steam in 2022, Developers Stray Frawn Studio has announced the release date for The Wandering Village on July 17, 2025. The game will be available on the following platforms.
