The Outlast Trials is one of the most challenging and intense survival horror games to play. It has received very positive reviews since its release, mainly for its difficulty. The new Season Four, called Project Diarchy, introduces new killers to this co-op survival game, making them the toughest Prime Assets to face yet. The Outlast Trials Season 4: Project Diarchy
The main highlight of The Outlast Trials season 4 is the new prime assets – Otto & Arora, aka The Kress Twins, where the former is a one-time politician and the latter a brilliant chemist. Red Barrels, the creators of the Outlast series, claim they are the toughest prime assets so far. To give a brief overview, Otto & Arora are conjoined twins since birth. They share one body but have two brains, giving them a full 360-degree view, which makes it very difficult to hide from them. Otto attacks up close with wild, bloody strikes, while Arora throws poison flasks from a distance to catch players off guard.
Besides the sadistic twins, the new season also adds two MK challenges – Get Out the Vote and Sentence the Prosecuted. Alongside New Murkoff Collections Comic Book – Chapter 6, which shares the disturbing origin story of the new Prime Asset, and is available for free to read.
And that’s not all, a new map or trial environment called Shopping Mall will also be added to The Outlast Trials. It is only for the wealthy and fueled by hatred for the poor. Otto and Arora welcome only wealthy elites willing to spend big and donate. This location will host the new Trial, or main mission, Kill The Politician. The update also reintroduces the Rebirth system, now with added options for co-op gameplay, unlike the original solo-only version.
The Outlast Trials Season 4 Release Date
Announced on 8 July 2025 by Red Barrels, Season 4 of The Outlast Trials will launch on 29 July 2025. Only the new prime asset and everything mentioned above have been revealed so far. More details will be shared through the upcoming Patch Notes. The update will be available for free on the following platforms:
