Tips for Saving Every Main Character
Saving each of the five main characters in The Casting of Frank Stone requires an explanation. The walkthrough for keeping them all is as follows.
How to Save Jaime
Jaime is one of the very first characters who could die, and a critical moment comes in Chapter 5. Here’s how you can keep Jaime alive:
- Chapter 3: Choose Empathy and Get Extra Money
During the scene in the garage, select the kind speech option. Ask for $20; it’ll come in handy later.
- Chapter 3: Drugstore
Instead of going to the curiosity shop, head to the drugstore. Say that Jaime should use his acting skills to haggle. This way, he will get several firecrackers and surely need them to stay alive.
- Chapter 5: Frank Stone – Fight Back or Run Away
When Frank Stone confronts you, you have two options: face him with the firecrackers or run. Since running will ruin Chris’s relationship, it is better to face Frank. Use the firecrackers and get the skill check to save Jaime successfully.
- Chapter 13: Camera
While in the furnace room playing as Linda, use the camera to fend off Frank Stone towards Jaime to avoid getting him knocked out.
- Chapter 13: Free Jaime or Continue to Linda
Sam finds Jaime in the storm drain and sets him free. Successfully defending him in that sequence will ensure he survives.
If you carry out these steps, Jaime will survive the whole story, and you will obtain the “Escape Artist” achievement.
Save Chris
Chris is in danger in the past and present, and her choices decide which timeline she will survive.
- Chapter 10: Go Back or Stay
You can use the Horologium to go back to 1980 and create a skill check for safety, or you can stay in 2024 and keep her alive with crucial choices in Chapter 14.
- Chapter 10: Save Stan
If Chris is in 2024, save Stan from getting crushed; pass the skill check to save him. Stan must survive at this juncture if later plot points are to be accomplished.
- Chapter 14: Escape Choices
If Chris stays in 2024, ensure that Madi, Linda, and Sam are kept alive. When it’s time for all to escape, ensure that Chris’s option to leave the projector screen is selected for survival.
Chris can survive in 1980 or 2024 with options selected as indicated above.
Saving Sam
Sam can get critically injured early in the game. This impacts his survival in the later parts of the game. Here’s how he can be saved:
- Chapter 1: Win Skill Checks
Sam will not die in Chapter 1; however, winning all the skill checks is highly recommended to prepare for a reward later on.
- Chapter 13: Defeat Frank Stone
Several skill checks can allow you to zap Frank Stone with the camera. So, Sam will survive if you win at least four of these skill checks.
- Chapter 14: Fail to Save Stan
When Stan gets grabbed by Frank, fails the skill check to let Stan be taken. Then, please select the option to have Sam back away instead of sacrificing himself.
- Chapter 14: Continue Until Remaining Skill Checks
Do the QTE as Sam tries to escape Frank Stone. If done correctly, Sam will make it out alive to rejoin the rest.
Save Linda
Linda is pitted against Frank Stone several times but is only in grave danger during Chapters 13 and 14.
- Chapter 13: Turn It On Camera
Turn it on, and then clear both the skill checks, allowing you to electrocute Frank Stone inside the furnace room. This will save Linda from Frank Stone’s clutches.
- Chapter 14: Hurry Up Generator Fix
Do the same as Sam did, and let Frank eat Stan. Then run back to repair the generator by searching for the parts it needs and passing the skill checks.
- Chapter 14: Save Madi
Once Madi falls to the ground, there will be an option to try and save her rather than attempt to run away. Stan will manage to save both Linda and Madi in such a way that Linda will survive.
Save Madi
A couple of the early choices and a few skill checks toward the end determine Madi’s fate.
- Chapter 8: Vent the Horologium
Pass the puzzle skill check to open the horologium chamber and rescue Madi from certain death.
- Chapter 12: Don’t Touch the Locket
Don’t click on the locket in the bedroom, or make sure you give it to Stan if you do. If you keep it, she dies.
- Chapter 14: Refuse the Deal from Augustine
In the Horologium, make sure Madi refuses Augustine’s deal. Also, if Madi had the locket, Augustine would manipulate her. Prevent fate.
- Chapter 14: Follow Sam’s Plan
Keep the skill checks, and when Sam distracts Frank, run. Make the steps to allow Madi to reach the campfire scene.
Summary
Follow these steps closely and make the right choices, and you will have the five main characters survive through The Casting of Frank Stone. You’ll not be able to save everyone, but keeping the key characters will yield a more comprehensive narrative experience and make many of the most challenging achievements available.
Now that you know the way, let’s go back in-game and see if you can save the people who can be saved!
