Star Wars Outlaws is set to bring us the “first-ever” open-world setting into that galaxy far, far, away. As one of the biggest upcoming Ubisoft-developed games on the way in, there’s plenty to get excited about for our adventure as scoundrel Kay Vess.
Release Date And Platforms
Ubisoft officially revealed the release date for Star Wars Outlaws to be August 30, 2024. Star Wars Outlaws is releasing on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X, with pre-orders. Unique Gold and Ultimate editions will allow you to enjoy bonuses such as three days of Early Access so that you can begin playing on the 27th.
Open-World Setting
Star Wars Outlaws is declared the first-ever open-world Star Wars game. It occurs across focused maps and areas pertinent to the story. The events between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi occur within the Star Wars timeline. Players will visit four planets and a new location in the form of a moon known as Toshara. Anyway, the game setting will have a full environment that includes cities, cities full of life, and dangerous savannas.
In Star Wars Outlaws, you take control of Kay Vess, a scoundrel doing whatever is necessary to make a living within the galactic underworld. The core story follows Kay as she tries to pull off the biggest heist in the Rim while conning the Empire.
The game will have a poorly modelled crime system reminiscent of GTA and Red Dead Redemption 2. With your reputation being a make-or-break factor to aid you in making allies and building relationships in the game world.
Characters
Kay Vess
Kay Vess will be a new character in the Star Wars universe. She’s a rogue finding a way to survive in the dark criminal universe as the Empire launches its war against the Rebel Alliance. Humberly González portrays Kay, known for her roles in Killer High, In the Dark, Utopia Falls, and Ginny & Georgia. Dee Bradley Baker, a star in Star Wars, voices Kay’s loyal Merqaal companion, Nix.
The Bad Batch or for his work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The characters further include ND-5, a reprogrammed Commando Droid who serves under Kay and Jaylen, a hustler who reaches out to Key about joining in on a massive heist.
Gameplay and Combat
This week, we finally got a glimpse of gameplay for Star Wars Outlaws, and it looks like Massive Entertainment is fashioning a Rockstar-style in-space adventure. You’ll be piloting your way around the criminal underbelly of the Outer Rim as Kay Vess. Also, cutting deals with Syndicatates, double-crossing the Empire, and betraying your friends.
Open-World Exploration
You’re free to take the helm of your ship, engage in dogfights, and even hunt bounty across a massive system of planets. You’ll also be able to upgrade your ship and speeder. Your three-tier reputation and the wanted system will depend on how crime syndicates and the Empire react to your actions.
Skills and Progression
Rather than standard XP and skill trees, Star Wars Outlaws seek out elusive experts who will pass on their skills once you help them. This way, the game encourages exploration and rewards player curiosity. New abilities can be developed by completing challenges, making you view the open world as a solution to problems.
Summary
Star Wars Outlaws promises an immersive and unique gaming experience in the much-loved Star Wars universe. An open world entire of life make it no wonder that this is the most awaited game of 2024.
