Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Characters

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles will hit shelves again on January 23, 2025. The original game had 9 playable characters available to choose from. And, with the re-release, this character roster has been increased to 18 and more characters are expected to be introduced soon. Most of these new characters are drawn from The Phantom Menace film.

A complete list of playable characters released so far are:

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • Qui-Gon Jinn
  • Mace Windu
  • Plo Koon
  • Adi Gallia
  • Ki-Adi Mundi
  • Queen Amidala
  • Captain Panaka
  • Darth Maul
  • A B1 Battle Droid
  • A B1 Pilot Droid
  • A Droideka Destroyer Droid
  • A Loader Droid
  • A Rifle Droid
  • A Weequay
  • A Rodian
  • A Tusken Raider
  • Mercenary

Most of these characters are available from the start of the game like we had in the original version. However, some, like Captain Panaka, Queen Amidala, Ki-Adi Mundi, and Darth Maul were made available only after reaching a certain level in the game. Some characters will also have customizable cosmetics. Also, players can unlock characters like Loader Droid using a cheat code.

Referring to the new characters, Tusken Raiders are the hostile beings from Tatooine, the desert planet featured in Star Wars. Weequays often belong to criminal organizations like the Hutt Clan or Hondo Ohnaka Gang. These leathery humanoids also exist as pirates. Rodians, the reptilian humanoids, and Ishi Tibs, the amphibian humanoids are also associated with the same criminal organizations.

The Rifle Droid is expected to offer gameplay similar to Queen Amidala and Captain Panaka whereas the Tusken Raiders will play more like the Jedi Fighters. Meanwhile, Ishi Tib and the Mercenary will bring unique gameplay experiences.

Gameplay

With the re-release, the classic game will be introduced to modern consoles which include Xbox Consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. With better graphics and controls, the game draws inspiration from the original version. As per the trailer, the game keeps up with being tough, while being equally fun to play. It can be played in co-op multiplayer mode where players can call in a mate to defeat the invaders on Naboo.

Players can hop onto the game as a Jedi or take up other playable characters like Queen Amidala, or Captain Panaka. As per the brief gameplay shown in the teaser, all these characters seem to be similar to Jedi or the blaster-wielding characters.

Just like the cult classic, the remastered version will too be a perfect mix of action, adventure, and cooperative gameplay. With the original pixilated characters being modernized, the battles seem to be intact and immersive. The lightsaber effect has been made sharper and enemies look detailed. The best part of this remastered version is that the players have the flexibility to choose between the classic controls and the modernized systems, similar to the action games we see today.

The Campaign has 10 levels, starting from The Phantom Menace from Star Wars Season 1 where players get to battle their way through the forests of Naboo. The gameplay is full of obstacles, enemies, and puzzles, making the gameplay highly immersive. It also offers a bunch of mini-games and bonus levels, adding more variety. Though the gameplay lacks the online multiplayer mode, it does offer the old-school co-op experience. And, what’s better than calling in a friend who is equally a Star Wars lover? Get ready to get your hands on the game on January 23, 2025.
