The game was announced right after the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has garnered over 94% Positive player reviews. Bloober Team revealed a cinematic trailer for the game along with some in-development gameplay footage near the end. The trailer mostly focused on a person inside a modified space suit in an eerie setting of the game and the protagonist navigating through a dark passageway with grotesque horrors laying in wait.
The horror element is played side by side with a cinematic chess game with an old lady and someone wearing a heavily modified version of a space suit, similar to the one in the horror section.
Setting & Backdrop
Cronos will take players on a mind-bending journey through a retro-future Eastern European setting. The player will take up the role of a Traveller working for the collective, journeying through a fine line between the past and the future. The player must navigate through this world and fend off grotesque enemies. The gameplay will be challenging and test the player’s resilience and skills.
The Backdrop will be set against an apocalyptic event called “The Change,” which has transformed the world in Cronos. While Bloober Team hasn’t revealed much about this apocalyptic event but The Change has left the populous turned into monstrosities, which will prove to be a challenge to all players throughout their journeys.
Release Date and Platforms
While Bloober Team has not revealed a release date yet, the team has set the release window for the game to be 2025. The game is still in development and will need further work to become a full-fledged horror title. Cronos: The New Dawn is all set to release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
