Capcom has kept Resident Evil 9 under wraps with no official news of the title other than its in development since July 2024. The next installment of the fan-favorite Resident Evil Series is not far off, with Capcom’s yearly release of a new title or the remake of some of the series beloved titles. Now, the Latest Resident Evil 9 Leaks suggests an island setting for the game and returning playable characters. Let’s take a look at the new setting and all the available information.
Setting and Story
The latest leaks and insider information have now surfaced on X by a user, RinoTheBouncer, who confirmed he received inside information about the upcoming title. Resident Evil 9 will see the return of series darlings Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy, both as playable characters. The story is set four years after the events of Resident Evil Village and will follow both Jill and Leon as they venture to an island where the “Bad Guys” are creating the clones of Eveline, the main villain of RE7 and Village.
Players will be able to explore the island and everything wrong with the dammned place. Leon and Jill will be guided by returning Chris Redfield and Barry Burton through radio calls as you progress further into the different parts of the island. The leak also mentioned the inclusion of an abandoned hospital, caves, a factory, dark forests, a laboratory, some houses and structures, and a temple of some sort. The story will advance the plot of the last games and will further investigate and uncover more information about the Megamycete and the company that’s creating clones of Eveline.
Enemy Types and More
The Leak also claims that the enemies in Resident Evil 9 will include evolved zombies similar to the Ganados in Resident Evil 4, with the inclusion of a stalker enemy that stalks Leon just like Nemesis or Mr. X. Jill will also have to face her fair share of enemies, like a Goatman-type enemy that she will have to fight somewhere in the story. The game’s main villain is someone named Mr Simon, and no additional information is available at the moment.
There is no news on what kind of perspective Resident Evil 9 will include as the series started off with a solid Third-person perspective, changing later on to a more immersive first-person perspective in the latest entries. There is much debate and fan division as many have loved the new approach with the first-person camera angle, while veteran fans are still behind the third-person camera angle.
