Players Returning back to the GTA Trilogy 

The GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition is seeing a spike in player count, especially for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. The Trilogy recently received a major update, adding the classic lightning feature, which brought back the retro aesthetic of the original games. Update 1.112 added some new features along with improvements to the games, with Xbox recording a spike in player counts for GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City, and GTA 3. 

Rise in Player Count for the GTA Trilogy 

The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy saw a rise in player count on the Xbox with a surge of more than 100% for GTA San Andreas with many players returning to the game and new players experiencing the trilogy for the first time. GTA Vice City’s player count spiked by 300% and GTA 3 recorded an increase of 398%, all thanks to the improvement made by Rockstar Games in the recent Update 1.112. 

Update 1.112 was released on November 12th for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Pc and was followed right after on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on Nov 13. Introducing the “Classic Lighting” and finally adding the original feel and aesthetic of the original titles. The recent player count in fact is due to this new update by Rockstar Games and the Black Friday Sale on the Xbox Platform. 

Update 1.112 and return of Classic Lighting

Update 1.112 for the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition added pretty significant changes to the trilogy with the biggest change coming in as the Classic Lighting for all three games. The Update also addressed many bugs and fixed several bugs, as the trilogy since its launch in 2021 was plagued by countless glitches, bugs, and gameplay issues. The developers Grove Street Games stripped the original lighting from the games and replaced it with a more modern and realistic lighting model. Rockstar stepped back into the loop and took charge of the improvements and updated the games with much-needed changes and patches. 

The Update also improved upon the fire effects, smoke effects, shadow casting, smoother animations while shooting, and more. The Nintendo Switch also received an update to its frame rate issues, fixing the choppy gameplay on the console. The update created quite a buzz in the community and it’s no surprise that fans are returning to the back to San Andreas, Vice City, and Liberty City.
