Since its launch on Consoles on October 29th, Phasmophobia has become a huge hit. The game has shipped over a million copies in just a short span of 35 days. Phasmophobia has made waves across the gaming community first at its initial release four years ago on PC and now with its launch on the Xbox and PlayStation Consoles.
One Million Players on Consoles
Phasmophobia is developed by Kinetic Games, being a horror title the game puts the players into the shoes of ghost hunters in maps set across multiple haunted locations. The players work together and use a wide range of ghost-hunting tools like EMF detectors, Spirit Boxes, Cameras, and more. But that’s not it the most interesting bit of the game is when the players turn on their microphones and the ghosts are able to hear them, and the players can interact with the ghosts in voice commands.
Phasmophobia launched in Early Access on September 18, 2020, for PC and gained immense popularity. Being a massive hit on PC it was evident that the success followed the title onto the console launch. Kinetic Games officially announced on X that Phasmophobia on consoles has hit one million players across the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PS VR2.
This milestone comes after just 35 days of the game’s release on consoles and is massive for Kinetic and the team who put their efforts into porting the game onto consoles while retaining many of the PC Features.
A Thank you note from Kinetic
The developers thanked the fans and the constant support from the Phasmophobia community. With a message to the fans Daniel Knight, CEO And Lead Developer at Kinetic Games has this to say
“This incredible achievement is only possible thanks to our wonderful, supportive and engaged community. The entire team here at Kinetic Games could not be happier, reaching this milestone is the best Christmas present we could have wished for.”
