Developers and Publishers Blizzard Entertainment have released an exciting New Event for Overwatch 2, but only for a limited time. When players log in and launch the game, they can now complete a bunch of challenges for in-game rewards. Hacks and Hijinx delivers a truly chaotic experience, unlike anything else that players have experienced in the game.
Overwatch 2 New Event Overview
Hacks and Hijinx is a limited-time mode that pits teams of six players against each other in control matches with a series of modifiers. Sixteen different modifiers are in rotation, which range from traditional modifiers like life steals to comedic modifiers like reducing the size of characters by 50%. What the Overwatch 2 New Event brings to the game is that each match chooses two modifiers at random to put into effect for the round. One random modifier would be tricky enough, but integrating two modifiers at random can result in fun matches.
Hacks and Hijinx Modifiers
Let’s look at some of the mayhem you can encounter in each round.
- Aerial Combat: Gravity is reduced, resulting in a more floaty and chaotic aerial engagement. While you’re airborne, all damage dealt and received increases by 50%. So while you do get rewarded for your high-flying aggression, it also comes with its risks.
- Back in Action: Respawn time gets reduced, which lets players return to the fight much faster. However, this feature is disabled during Overtime.
- Berserkers: While the health regeneration feature gets disabled, your attack speed and cooldown reduction get boosted by 6% for every 10% health reduction. So, despite being a low health warrior, you can still dish out a lot of damage.
- Buff Hunt: Think of an immediate burst of power and energy for one minute, which makes you completely indestructible. Buff Hunt grants a random player maximum health, damage output, and ultimate charge speed.
- Charge Pack: Collecting a health pack now also charges your ultimate ability charge. This improved healing factor helps you last longer in the fight and brings you closer to victory.
- Damage Pack: Health Packs now grant +20% damage for ten to twenty seconds (or until death).
- Explosive: Every player, including you, explodes on death. It can be a powerful weapon to turn the tide in your favour when all hope seems lost.
- Fallen Comrade: Now the death of your ally won’t go in vain. You can use the globe for a temporary boost to damage, armor, and movement speed.
- Fired Up: Being on fire grants you a power boost. This means more damage or healing and faster cooldown. But you will be visible to everyone else.
- Hyper Speed: The movement speed of all players increases by 30% which makes the battlefield fast-paced. You can use this added speed to dodge, flank, or disengage more effectively.
- Lie Low: As you crouch, you become invisible. This advantage stays with you until you get too close to an enemy, use an ability, or fire a weapon. It is ideal to sneak up on enemies for a surprise attack, and you can also escape their line of sight.
- Mini Maxing: All playable characters become 50% smaller, which, as a result, reduces their health by 30%. To take complete advantage of this, make sure to aim with precision.
- Motion Detection: Moving enemies within 25 metres are visible through walls. Crouch to stay hidden.

- Power Punch: Imagine a punch so powerful that it makes you channelize your inner Bruce Lee. That is what Power Punch brings to the table. Your single punch will now send the enemy way back.
- Super Jump: Every jump launches you 200% higher, enough to create vertical chaos.
- Vampiric Healing: No passive health regeneration. To survive, you must steal other players’ lifelines.

Overwatch 2 New Event Rewards
For those of you who can complete the game in the timeframe, you will earn up to 55k Battle Pass XP, an 8-bit spray weapon charm, an epic loot box, and a Hackerman title.

Summary
Overwatch 2 New Event provides players with something new and fresh to look forward to from the franchise. While Hacks and Hijinx is only available for a limited time, it could well be a stepping stone for more exciting gameplay features and additions to the multiplayer game.
