In a recent tweet by the official Cyberpunk 2077 account responded to a fan calling for a PS5 Pro upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077. With the developer’s CD Projekt Red replied “We currently have no plans for PS5 Pro Patch”. This news might not come as a shocker but is definitely a sad one for the fans of Cyberpunk 2077. Many fans were expecting an upgrade for the console given Cyberpunk 2077 can take advantage of the upgraded hardware.
Why is Cyberpunk 2077 not getting a PS5 Pro Patch?
There are many reasons as to why CD Projekt Red might not be interested in a Patch for Sony’s hefty $700 console. The biggest reason is Cyberpunk 2077 currently is one of the best-looking games for the PlayStation 5 and with mods available on PC the game looks breathtaking and hyper-realistic. There is no point for the devs to introduce a patch, yes it can be debated on why and how a patch will enhance the performance of the game for the PS5 Pro. But fans also need to keep in mind that currently, no developers are working on Cyberpunk 2077 anymore.
Just months ago CD Projekt Red pulled all the devs off the game to focus on future projects and the Witcher 4, the first game in the new Witcher Trilogy planned for the future. The Polish Devs are now more focused on providing a fully packaged and another groundbreaking title and gaining back their lost reputation of master crafting AAA titles.
Cyberpunk 2077 Performance on Current Platforms
It is worth noting Cyberpunk 2077 already has a free next-gen upgrade for both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, letting both console owners to select a performance mode that outputs a smooth 60FPS at 4K Resolution with an additional Ray Tracing mode that runs at 30FPS. Cyberpunk 2077 has a bunch of next-gen features already on the consoles with both having improved crowd reactions, visual tweaks, and many quality-of-life improvements.
On the PC the game is at its peak vidual fidelity and performance as the game holds a smooth 60FPS at 4k resolutions without much hinderance on powerful builds. The Cyberpunk community is very active and there are hundreds of mods available for the game to enhance visuals, lighting, models and add community-created content, and expand Night City in a way that CD Projekt Red imagined the game to be.
