Nintendo Switch is arguably the most preferred handheld console and an upgrade of it is due to be out soon. A trailer from Nintendo, showcasing Switch 2 was revealed a week ago and it has teased a bunch of speculations around it. Be it the hardware, specifications, or Switch 2 Exclusive Games like Mario Kart, there is a buzz around everything that we might see in this next-gen console. The trailer also spilled tea about Mario Kart 9, the successor to Switch’s exclusive release Mario Kart 8. Stay hooked as we take you through everything we know about this major release.

Nintendo Switch 2: Everything we know

The trailer announcing Switch 2 did not reveal much about it. And, Nintendo has not even confirmed the release date of Switch 2 yet. From all the details known so far, Nintendo has announced 15 experience events for fans to test out the new console, starting in April and ending in June. This might mean that we can expect this next-gen console to be released somewhere around June 2025.

Talking about the hardware, Switch 2 is expected to come with a much bigger screen, possibly 8.2 inches (1080p), surpassing Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED. The trailer also revealed how this new release will come with Joy-Con attaching via magnets and a USB-C port, a game-card slot, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, among various other openings. The back comes with a U-shaped kickstand, adding to the stability and the right Joy-Con receives a new home button, promising easy navigation.

But, here is the catch! Nintendo has been suspiciously quiet about the specifications and nothing has been released officially, making sure the buzz remains intact and nothing is all-out too soon!

Mario Kart 9

A console is nothing without its games. And, Nintendo dropped a hint right at the end of the trailer of a new Mario Kart game coming alongside the console release. There is no doubt that Mario Kart is Nintendo’s biggest cash cow. With the trailer teasing Mario Kart 9 only for a short while, more like a blink-and-miss, Mario lovers could still figure out what might be coming. It revealed a new desert course with drivers passing Yoshi’s Gas Station.

The desert track shown in the Switch 2 trailer will seemingly be called Mario Bros Circuit. And, surprisingly, it had 24 placements. This is something new for the Mario Kart series which typically had 12 racers driving on the track. Exciting Times ahead for sure!! Though the trailer did not reveal all the characters, we saw Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Daisy, Toad, Yoshi, Rosalina, and Donkey Kong in whatever little game shot that was revealed. The showcase revealed a wide range of vehicles, with Rosalina driving her iconic blue motorbike, sparking much excitement.

But, everything boils down to the fact that the developers have not confirmed anything yet. And, all we have are speculations about what might be cooking.
