The next entry in the Battlefield series is all set to return with a beloved mechanic which was absent in the latest Battlefield 2042. The classic “Leaning” mechanic was seemingly missing from the latest game after being first introduced in Battlefield 3. With the next entry hitting the shelves somewhere in 2025 with a modern setting and return to classic mechanics, the reveal of Battlefield 6 is the most awaited release of any Battlefield game in years.
Classic Mechanics to return in the next Battlefield
Recently Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson revealed that the leaning mechanic will be making its way into the gameplay of the next entry. The rumor was shared on social media and quickly spread like wildfire in the Battlefield Community, many fans are excited for the feature to return in Battlefield 6. When 2042 launched it was highly bombarded due to its new class system and lack of features which made the previous games in the series a blast to play especially Battlefield 3, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield 1.
The leaning mechanic was present in all Battlefield games after its introduction in BF3 and moved forward until Battlefield 1 implemented a manual option for leaning in the game. The leaning lets the player lean and aim around cover without exposing much of their body, this helped in more strategic play and tactical advantages.
The next entry will also be returning with a modern setting and many features that made the originals a fun experience and successful hits:
- Leaning Mechanics
- Four Class System (Assault, Support, Engineer & Recon)
- 64 Player Lobbies
- Revamped Destruction Mechanics
- Modern-Setting
When can players expect the reveal?
The only news or reveal so far for the next Battlefield game has been the reveal of its Concept Art and a few details by Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella. The next entry is returning to its roots with a modern setting with rumors suggesting the setting is between 2025 and 2030. The concept art of the game was from Gibraltar, which is an important strategic point in the Strait of Gibraltar. This suggests the game to be set in Europe, Africa, and beyond. There is no specific timeline as of yet and no official news but fans can expect the game next year in 2025 with a reveal somewhere in early to mid-2025.
Summary
With classic mechanics returning to Battlefield 6 and a modern setting, the next entry is ramping up to be one of the biggest Battlefield projects to date. There is a lot of pressure on EA and Dice to deliver with the next entry as the debacle of Battlefield 2042 nearly killed the series for good and all hopes rely on the next game to deliver. With many of EA’s studios working on the next game, Battlefield 6 can either be the revival of the series or turn out to be the biggest disaster for the series.
