The game will follow you and your friends as you fight through the evil and reach the land of Aeternum. You must get the island before anyone else to gain the ultimate supernatural powers. After all, we have all seen this before; if the power lands in the wrong hands, the entire world will pay. Before that happens, strap on your weapons and get into the journey of a lifetime. Here is the New World: Aeternum review to peruse and see if the game is worth it. Don’t worry it is spoiler-free.
What is New World Aeternum?
The game has introduced a new version of the classic, New World. The latest version offers a lot of different updates and gameplay upgrades that weren’t present before. The game has a more profound storyline. The game updates have revamped the entire look of the classic New World. To many people, this version seems bland and confusing; however, if you have never played the game before, you should try out New World Aeternum because of its MMO gameplay mode. Especially try this game out if you own the base game and the DLC for the game Angry Earth Expansion. You will get Aeternum for free if you have the base game and the expansion. Playing this game as an extension might seem weird, but try it out.
Action RPG Game
The major updates this game has introduced have definitely upgraded the game’s combat. The best thing about this game is said to be its combat. While playing this Action RPG game, MMO is very fluid and flows easily through the game. The animations and victories are incredibly satisfying. You will get mastery points as you progress through the game and defeat your enemies. These points will help you to improve and upgrade your weapons. The gameplay of the combat is very engaging and keeps you busy; you need to defend yourself as the attacks keep coming in, dodge through, and move forward. They pretty much nailed this in the game.
Character Attributes
Your attributes in the game are strength, dexterity, intelligence, focus, and constitution. Keep them at the same level to upgrade your character and effectively attack your enemy. You will unlock the nodes as you unlock different modes in these attributes. These nodes will help you unlock various upgrades to your weapons. These are definitely helpful to make your character more powerful and cause minimal damage to your health during combat. These attributes create a different dynamic in the game.
Weapon Mastery is Really Dope
There are so many weapons you can choose from, such as the great swords, blunderbuss, bows, muskets, war hammers, and many more. However, pro gamers recommend sticking to only two or three weapons. This is because, as you progress, your weapons will upgrade, which will, in turn, upgrade your character’s abilities. You will have different class abilities with these upgrades. This is quite limiting in combat and could be a negative feature. However, the real fans love it, and so are we.
Environmental Design
The game’s environment is pretty basic compared to the other released ones. Some people have also rated the gameplay and storyline of the game as bland. However, if you enjoy an MMO RPG game with combat scenarios and don’t care about the environment too much, this might be the game for you. The environment of the game only seems remotely inviting because of the storyline. The game environment gets repetitive at times, so try to ignore that if you are a fan and go ahead with purchasing it.
Loot, Gear, and Items
There are different items you can acquire along the way. The blue and green items vary in function and ability. Ideally, you should have a balance of both, but collecting green items could also be beneficial. This vast inventory will help you equip these weapons and combat them easily in battles. The design of the gear and other items are great. Inventory will fill up slowly, so just be patient. You must make your food and feed yourself through your food inventory.
Is it Worth it?
Well, let’s get to the part we have all been waiting for: the Driffle rating. We rate this game a fair 6.5/10. In this detailed New World: Aeternum review, we found that the game has genius gameplay and combat modes. The weapon mastery and interaction between the characters are also commendable. However, the game does lack a few other necessities like storyline and engagement. The combat is flawless though, and Aeternum is worth playing if you already have the other New World editions.
