Monster Hunter Wilds Beta: Everything You Need To Know

The much-awaited Monster Hunter Wilds is all set to release soon. The game has been highly anticipated after the success of its predecessor, Monster Hunter: World. It went on to become Capcom’s best offering to the gaming world with 23 million units sold, and counting. Hence, it is safe to say that expectations are petty high from Monster Hunter Wilds. Recently, the game announced its Open Beta Test 2 (OBT 2)  allowing players to enjoy the game before its actual release. Let’s talk about it. 

The Beta Test Schedule

The Monster Hunter Wilds beta test schedule is divided into two sessions. The first session of the beta test will last from February 6 to February 9. The second session commences from February 13 till 16. The timing of the sessions is as follows:

Starting Time: 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET
Ending Time: 6:59 PM PT / 9:59 PM ET (at the end date)

What Platforms Is The Beta Test Available On?

If you happen to own the latest consoles from Sony and Microsoft then you are in luck. The beta is available on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as well.  You can download it from the respective stores. Also, you do not require a subscription or a pre-order to do so. 

How To Download The Monster Hunter Wilds Beta on Your Platfrom?

Here is how you can download the beta test on your respective platform:

  • Navigate to the store of your respective console
  • Head to the search bar and type “Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Test”
  • Select the Beta version and select download

Monster Hunter Wilds Beta: All The Content

This beta test of Monster Hunter Wilds has all the features from the previous beta alongside some new features:

  • Arkveld and Gypceros: Players will meet the epic monster Arkveld alongside Gypceros in this open beta test. The developers have also added a slaying quest for Arkveld.
  • Training Area: This will allow players to try and experiment with all the weapons available. In case a player faints, they will revive automatically. Furthermore, the amount of consumables a player has will not decrease.
  • Private Lobbies: You can create a private lobby and up to 16 players can join. Do keep in mind that you can only join a lobby through a lobby ID search.
  • Online Single Player: Players who are keen on exploring the game environment by themselves can do so without having to join a lobby. If you wish to play in a multiplayer session however you can use the SOS Flare for the same. 

In addition to the above, Content from the Open Beta Test 1 is available.

  • Character Creation: In this, you can customize your character as many times as you like. Also, you can carry this data to the full version when the game is released.
  • Story Trial: In this, you will be able to see the opening cutscene and also play the Chatacabra hunt. This will allow you to get a feel of the gameplay mechanics and weapons. 
  • Doshaguma Hunt: You will have to defeat the leader of the Doshaguma pack. You will have two different weapons to switch from. 

Participation Bonuses

If you participate in the open beta test 2, you will receive the following rewards which you can claim when the game releases. 

Bonus Item Pack:  Flash Pod x10, Large Dung Pod x10Raw Meat x10, Shock Trap x3, Pitfall Trap x3, Tranq Bomb x10, Armor Sphere x5, Large Barrel Bomb x3 and a Bonus Pendant.

The beta test features content from the previous beta test as well which took place back in November 2024.
