Chainmail Armor – Unavailable through crafting, found only through trading or as loot

Iron Armor – Moderate protection, easily craftable

Gold Armor – Low durability, but useful in the Nether due to its abilities

Diamond Armor – High protection, strong durability

Netherite Armor – Best protection and durability, crafted by upgrading diamond armor

How to Craft Armor

Armor sets consist of four pieces in one set: Helmet, Chest piece, Pants and Boots. Each piece has a different method when putting items together in the crafting table inventory. Follow the steps below to craft your very own armor set.

Follow the exact sequence below of the materials required to make individual armor pieces.

Crafting Recipes for Each Armor Type

Leather Armor

  • Boots x4 Leather
  • Helmet x5 Leather
  • Chestplate x8 Leather
  • Pants x7 Leather

Iron, Gold & Diamond Armor

The crafting recipes for these materials are the same as those for leather, but iron ingots, gold ingots, or diamonds are used instead of leather.

Chainmail Armor

Chainmail armor cannot be crafted in Minecraft and have to be obtained by either killing the enemies wearing them and looting them afterwards, or they can be traded for with a blacksmith villager.

Netherite Armor

To upgrade to the Netherite Armor, players must have a complete set of Diamond Armor and Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template along with Netherite Ingots.

To obtain Netherite ingots, Combine 4 Netherite Scraps and 4 Gold Ingots in the 3×3 crafting grid to make 1 Netherite Ingot. This recipe is shapeless, so you don’t need to put the materials in any particular configuration to craft the resulting item.

Now that you have all the resources in place, players need to use the smithing table to Produce individual pieces of Netherite Armor.

Place a Netherite Ingot, a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template, and a piece of Diamond armor in the Smithing Table to upgrade it to Netherite armor. Repeat this process for the helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots to complete a full set of Netherite armor.
