Mojang has just unveiled new details on their upcoming Minecraft, Chase the Skies Update. Adding the first ever flyable mount in-game, new music, and brand new features coming to Minecraft this June. This new update for Minecraft is one of the more exciting ones this year, with the Vibrant Visuals update also just around the corner. Minecraft Chase the Skies Update is part of the new revamped game drop system with frequent drops throughout the year. Happy Ghast Flyable Mount

The biggest feature coming in this new update is the addition of the first-ever flyable mount in Minecraft. Players can now take to the skies with a new Happy Ghast Mob, which can be fully tamed and used as a new way to get around. The Happy Ghast will be available once the players travel to the Nether Realm and find a Dried Ghast hanging around fossil structures. Players can then take the Dried Ghast to the overworld and just put the little creature in a water body. Over time, the Ghast will increase in size and become happier than before.

Before the players can take the Ghast for a ride, they will have to show a bit more love to the Ghast. Feed it some snowballs and watch it turn into a Happy Ghast. Once all criteria are met, the players can mount the Happy Ghast and Chase the Skies with their new friend.

A New quality of life improvement coming in the latest update is the addition of a new player locator bar. This new bar will be part of the in-game Minecraft HUD and show the location of other players in-game. Making it easier for players to find their friends in-game with colored dots indicating the general direction. In addition to the color dots, the locator bar will also show the elevation of your friends with an up and down arrow.

New Music Disc and Tracks

With the Chase The Skies game drops come along a brand new collectible disc that players can find in the Nether. How Exactly? Well, players will have to chase down the Fire Ghasts in the Nether and eliminate* them to pick the disc from their drops. Along with the new disc, fice new ambient tracks will now be available in various Overworld biomes. The new tracks include:

  • Lilypad
  • Below and Above
  • O’s Piano
  • Broken Clocks
  • Fireflies
  • Tears

Crafting Changes and Add-ons

Leads are getting a major overhaul, with players getting the ability to now lead multiple mobs together into one single caravan. Crafting Leads will also become easier with the only required materials being a string.

Happy Ghast Minecraft

Saddles will finally see a most-awaited change with players now having the ability to craft their very own saddles. Now just need 3 leather and 1 iron ingot on your crafting table, and voila. The new Minecraft update will also make it easier to take off saddles with just a shear.

The latest update for Minecraft, Chase the Skies, will be available sometime later in June 2025. The update doesn’t have a tentative release date as of yet, but players will be glad to know. The biggest Minecraft visual overhaul, Vibrant Visuals, will arrive with the new Chase the Skies update. Currently, the Vibrant Visuals update is planned to only release on Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, with future plans for a Java update.

The new Minecraft update will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Android, iOS, and PC in late June 2025.

  • iOS: A12 or M1 or higher
