Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater New Trailer

Konami revealed the new Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater trailer at the Tokyo Game Show 2024. The New trailer didn’t show much gameplay but was more of a story trailer, focusing on the first mission of the game and introducing some major characters like The Boss, Ocelot, Eva, Colonel Volgin, and more. Let’s take a look at the new trailer and what we can break down from it.

Trailer Breakdown

The second trailer started with the Snake base jumping behind the enemy lines. The first thing anyone can take away is that Metal Gear Solid Delta looks much more refined and polished than the last trailer. With more crispier graphics and much smoother animations, the trailer shows off major changes to the game’s lighting and environments as we see Snake approach towards his objective of rescuing the soviet scientist Sokolov.

The trailer also features Snake’s first encounter with Ocelot and offers a new look at the Elite Cobra Unit. But the highlight of the trailer is surely the betrayal of Snake’s betrayal at the hands of his mentor, The boss, as she turns on Snake and her country while defecting to the soviet union. From this, Snake’s mission turns from rescue ops to a full-blown covert operation trying to survive the environment and the rogue soviet forces. Everything goes to shambles as Colonel Volgin launches a miniature nuke in the area, escalating the Cold War and drawing the lines of the Iron Curtain even further.

Voice Acting

Fans of the Metal Gear Franchise are really happy with Konami’s decision to retain the original voice actors for the game featuring the fan-favorite David Hayter as Naked Snake, Lori Alan as The Boss, Michael Bell as The Fear, Richard Doyle as The Fury, J. Grant Albrecht as The End, Neil Ross as Colonel Volgin, and Suzetta Miñet as Eva.

New Gameplay mechanics

Apart from just remaking the base game from the ground up, Konami is also focusing on adding new elements to the remake, which will cater to a larger audience and make the gameplay much fresher for old fans of the series and the game. With two major introductions like:

Legacy Mode: The Legacy mode mirrors Metal Gear Solid 3’s original overhead camera angle, adding a 2004-style filter for fans craving a nostalgic experience. In contrast, the New Style caters to modern gaming tastes with a third-person shooter perspective, similar to the gameplay dynamics of MGS 5.

Battle Dynamic System: The Battle Dynamic System is a brand-new addition that operates in real-time. In Delta, injuries and wounds are persistent, meaning players will see bandages or first aid items on their character during cutscenes and story progression. This visually reflects each player’s unique gameplay choices throughout the game.

Platform Availability

Konami has kept the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater under wraps, as there is no news of a release window for the game. But so far, Konami has confirmed that Delta will be available on all next-generation consoles and PCs.

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
