Max Payne is one of the most loved franchises ever, and since the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake was announced, fans have been in high anticipation. The remake will be a modern version of the first two parts in the game series, which were released in 2001 and 2003, respectively. Max Payne Remake
The Max Payne remake will be a third-person shooter like its predecessors and is likely to feature better graphics and smoother gameplay. It is being developed by Remedy Entertainment and went into full production in Q2 of 2024. Remedy Entertainment is the studio that also developed the first two games in the series, and now they’re recreating and combining them into one as a modernized version. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, holds the rights to the Max Payne intellectual property. The remake will be published by Rockstar Games, which also published the rest of the games in the franchise.
The story of the first Max Payne follows Max, an NYPD detective, whose wife and child are brutally murdered. Then Max breaks down and throws himself into the criminal underworld to take revenge. The second part, The Fall of Max Payne, is a direct sequel to the first and is set two years later. Max returns to the NYPD and starts investigating a series of murders caused by Squeaky Cleaners, who want to kill everyone in the Inner Circle. He then teams up with Mona, his lover, to find out the truth and kill the antagonist, Vlad.
‘Great Progress’
Recently, the CEO of Remedy Entertainment, Tero Virtala, confirmed that the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is in full production and making “great progress,”. There had been no updates on this matter for a long time, so fans were worried if there were changes in plans. Furthermore, sources on Twitter have communicated that Rockstar will take care of the publishing and marketing part of the remake, and Remedy won’t be involved at all.
