The hype around the release of GTA 6 is at an all-time high, with many even calling it the ” Most-Awaited game of all time”. GTA 6 has been in development for quite a long time, as Rockstar Games immediately started working on the project after the release of GTA 5 in 2013, which in itself became the highest-selling entertainment product during that time the game broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning upto 1 Billion USD in its first three days. As we inch closer to 2025 and the highly awaited release of GTA 6, let us look at some of the rumours and latest insider news regarding Grand Theft Auto 6.
Breaking the Internet
Rockstar Games has a habit of setting the entertainment world on fire, and it once again broke the internet with the release of the first trailer of GTA 6 on December 5th, 2023. The trailer became one of the most viewed videos on YouTube in 24 hours and currently sits at a view count of 205 million. The first trailer set the internet on fire and sent the gaming community into a frenzy. The trailer briefly showcased the Two main protagonists of GTA 6, Lucia and Jason, along with the setting. GTA 6 will be a return for the series to the beloved neon-lit Vice City. The first trailer was shared across social media, with coverage from national news channels. This initial reaction from the public definitely showed the aura of the Grand Theft Auto series and its capabilities to connect with audiences worldwide.
Release date
Rockstar last acknowledged any news of GTA 6 when the first trailer dropped on Dec 5th, 2023. After that, there was complete silence from the creators. This is not something new as Rockstar Games is one of the most secretive gaming companies out there, and some can even call them “The most Secretive” due to their past behaviour of keeping things tightly under wraps with little to no leaks at all. But in the case of GTA 6, it was completely the opposite as more than 50 Minutes of the Test footage of the game was leaked way before any trailers or announcements by Rockstar Games itself.
Meanwhile, Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, hinted that the game was on schedule with a fall 2025 release window. Recently, a keen Redditor spotted an IMDb listing for GTA 6 that mentioned a release date of October 27, 2025. Although this listing has since been removed and remains unconfirmed, it aligns with the “Fall 2025” timeframe indicated by Take-Two Interactive.
When can we expect a second trailer?
The second trailer for GTA 6 was rumoured to drop around July-August, but with no signs yet, it is highly likely that it will be released around the end of 2024, with a follow-up gameplay trailer in February 2025, following the same pattern as previous Rockstar releases like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Expectations from GTA 6
Many fans are worried that GTA 6 might fall short of expectations, with some even predicting it could be a significant disappointment. However, that seems unlikely, given Rockstar’s history of delivering blockbuster titles. Their impeccable track record speaks for itself, as their last two releases set a new benchmark for open-world gaming, leaving no real competitors in the genre. GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious projects in gaming history, reportedly carrying a staggering $2 billion budget, including marketing and other expenses.
All eyes are on Rockstar as fans eagerly await GTA 6, which is expected to break more world records, just like its predecessor, and once again set the standard for the next generation of games.
