Use the guide below to find and hunt for these rare artifacts as STALKER 2 boasts a number of these and not all artifacts are the same with many common types and rare artifacts as well. Artifacts are found inside or around anomalies in the game, these are dangerous zones that warp the rules of science and can cause harm to you. You’ll need specific equipment to navigate them safely, like a suit with good protection and a detector.
Acquire the Artifact Detectors
The player will need to get their hand on a detector to track down these artifacts while out in the world exploring. In the second half of the game, players can get their hands on the Bear & Hilka detectors, acquiring these will make artifact hunting far easier and more profitable.
Bear Detector: The Bear detector is a short-range artifact detector and will show exactly how close the player is to the artifact. To acquire this complete the A Sign of Hope side mission located on Wild Island. Talk to Professor Lodochka in the exterior lab unit to start the quest.
Hilka Detector: The Hilka detector is a long-range artifact hunter with the ability to detect artifacts from a far greater range when the player is out exploring. To get your hands on one start The Mysterious Side Case mission in the region of Zotan. Talk to Sultan in the large derelict ship settlement, the player will have to travel to the tanker ship on the east side of the map. Upon entering the mobile lab players can find the Hilka Detector on a desk right next to the quest item.
Hunting for Artifacts
- Make sure to carry less than 50kgs when out exploring and hunting for artifacts, as you want to be as light as possible to sprint between regions in the Zone.
- Use the Hilka Detector while sprinting around the area and switch between the Bear and the Hilka to pinpoint the exact location of the artifact in the search area.
- Artifacts respawn after 2 in-game days and after every Emission event, they start after the STALKER leaves the lesser zone
- Always check bars for artifacts missions and check in with the bartenders as these missions sometimes pay double or even triple for artifacts
- Start in the Lesser Zone/Cordon region for the initial start and explore them thoroughly, as this region has denser artifacts spawns and threats are easier to deal with
Pro Tip: Before picking up an artifact, save your game. Since artifacts are randomly generated and will respawn in the same spot if left untouched, you can reload your save until you get the artifact you’re looking for.
7 Early game places to hunt artifacts in the Lesser Zone
- Pol Depot (Northwest Corner): Check the four storage tanks on the east side of the depot.
- North Checkpoint: Sprint east to reach this checkpoint.
- Deaf Meadow: Head east and then south, near the Radiation Hazard Signs Storage building.
- Old Mill: Move south to this nearby location.
- The Ribs: Go southwest to this strange structure south of Zalissya base.
- Magnetic Cave: Check this area west of the Boiler House.
- The Barge: Head to the far south to check this location.

Sell the Artifacts for Easy Money
After acquiring the artifacts the player can now either equip them, sell them, or trade them in for items. One of the best ways to make easy money in Stalker 2 is selling these artifacts to the traders around the map. Each trader will have their own prices to offer so keep an eye out for green reputation traders as they offer much better prices and if you know a scientist in the game then sell the artifact to them as they offer the highest price (Find one in the modern building on the map). The Barman in the Cordon, Sidorovich at the start of the game, and Ripper in the Dead City are often good choices.
