EA just revealed the first look at the gameplay for the F1 25 game, and we can say that things have been shaken up a bit. F1 25 is becoming more interesting as we approach the release date. With new tracks, new drivers, and features such as My Career 2.0, driver career, and more, the game is already winning the hearts of fans. This blog is all about that. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the F1 25 gameplay reveal, reverse tracks, new mechanics, & more.
F1 25 Gameplay Overview
Having had the first look at the gameplay, featuring new tracks, new team lineups, rookie debuts, improved graphics, and new customization options, F1 25 appears to be the most authentic F1 representation to date.
F1 25 has made a significant leap forward in terms of graphical fidelity. Not only do the tracks look better and more realistic than ever, but Codemasters – the developers – have also enhanced accuracy, thanks to light detection and scanning, also known as Lidar.
The gameplay video showcased radio audio, tracks with bumps, trees, liveries, and much more added to the game. Just to give you a taste of what the drivers experience in reality. More on that below.
F1 25 New and Key Features
- Reverse Track: For the first time in an official F1 game, you can experience your favorite circuits in a reverse track layout.
- Lidar Track: Using lidar technology, the original tracks of Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka, and Imola have been digitally scanned, generating millions of data points. This brings unprecedented accuracy to the tracks in-game.
- 11th Team: For the very first time in an F1 game, you can now add an 11th team to the grid, making the competition tougher and more interesting via the driver career mode.
- Driver Icon System: For the first time, both Career Modes will allow AI teams the option to recruit Driver Icons.
- Weather & Lighting Improvements: Tone mapping has been introduced in F1 25 to create a more dramatic effect across all weather conditions. In other words, there have been improvements in lighting, shadows, and circuits overall.
- Livery Customization: EA is introducing a brand new decal editor in F1 25. You can remove, rotate, and resize your decals or customize your number on the car in any color and font. Additionally, sponsor liveries are making their debut in F1 25.
- Driver of the Day: This feature showcases accomplishments such as the cleanest driver and most overtakes to promote teamwork and respectful racing.
- Radio Audio: EA has more than doubled the real driver voices since F1 24. Moreover, you may encounter new voice lines for pole positions, flags, and more.
- Collaborative Invitationals: Multiplayer events will open up for you throughout the game. Once you have one available, you can share access with your friends and complete the shared objective to earn rewards.
- Path Tracing: This feature represents an emerging PC innovation. According to EA, path tracing is the most realistic simulation of light on track that they have ever delivered.
My Career 2.0
My Career 2.0 offers a more authentic, management-focused role as a Team Owner in F1 25. You’ll be able to manage critical facilities such as engineering, personnel, and corporate functions, and you’ll be responsible for recruiting and managing a pair of drivers to represent your team.
The Engineering Facility
For the first time, the engineering facility separates research and development. When developing a part you’ve researched, you can decide where to focus the team’s efforts. You can develop parts for both drivers simultaneously, which will take longer but ultimately cost less. Alternatively, you can opt for a single part for your in-form driver, having it ready for the next Grand Prix. What will you choose?

Personnel and Corporate
The Personnel Facility introduces a driver contract system with unique outcomes, allowing you to negotiate with multiple drivers as you approach the contract window. Your Workforce comprises the additional staff under your command, outside of drivers.
The Corporate feature helps you track your finances in the game carefully to avoid breaking the cap. Here, you can frequently review your spending and spread your finances effectively throughout the season.
Summary
F1 25 is set to launch soon. It has new features like reverse tracks, lidar tracks, the addition of an 11th team, AI improvements, and enhanced graphics. With that being said, F1 25 is surely going to be the best and most immersive car racing game to date.
The wait ends on May 30, 2025, but if you’re a true F1 fan and want to get your hands on the game earlier than everyone else, you can pre-order the F1 25 Iconic Edition for a three-day early access to the game.
