Fans are yet again concerned over the next entry in the Battlefield Series. An ex dev of the Battlefield games took to Bluesky (A Twitter alternative) to raise concerns over the project. Stating the corporate takeover of the game and its similarity to Call of Duty games of the decade. Let’s take a look at rising fan concerns over the upcoming Battlefield Game.

Everything We Know So Far about Battlefield 6
EA is going all hands on deck with the next Battlefield game, with a return of classic mechanics and a back-to-basics approach. EA itself has stated the next game is set to be the biggest project in the company’s history with four of its in-house studios working on the game.

Battlefield 6 will include:
Modern Setting: The next Battlefield game returns to its roots with a modern setting inspired by Battlefield 3 and 4.

Smaller Maps: The game will have smaller, well-designed maps for a more enjoyable and accessible experience. No more big open empty spaces with little action or vehicular combat.
64 Player Lobbies: Battlefield is moving back to 64-player modes, focusing on fast-paced combat instead of 128-player maps.

No More Specialists: The next Battlefield game returns the class system, Assault, Support, Engineer, Recon. Dropping the controversial Specialists from Battlefield 2042.
Learning from Battlefield 2042: EA is learning from 2042’s mistakes and aims for a stronger launch with the next game.

Multiple Studios Involved: Four EA studios are collaborating for the next game (DICE, Motive, Ripple Effect, and Criterion).
- DICE: Leading the development, DICE is primarily responsible for the game’s multiplayer component and the core Battlefield experience.
- Motive: Motive Studio is focusing on the single-player campaign. Bringing a proper narrative-driven campaign back to the series.
- Ripple Effect: Tasked with creating a new Battlefield experience, which is speculated to be a free-to-play battle royale mode. The mode is speculated to be very similar to the likes of Call of Duty Warzone
- Criterion: Known for their work on racing games, Criterion is contributing to the development by handling specific content and experiences within the next Battlefield entry.
Concerns over the upcoming Battlefield Game

Now coming to the sad bit of news for Battlefield, the Ex developer stated on social media. There are quite a few things that have raised concerns with the Battlefield Community. One of the major reveals has been the copy-paste formula from the Call of Duty Games. The ex-dev stated that the core management for the next project is looking more towards profit rather than a core battlefield experience. The next battlefield is set to follow a live-service formula with a focus on dishing out profitable slop. By including microtransactions in skins, camos, and other purchasables.

The dev also stated that 98% of all staff that have previously worked on Battlefield games have left the project altogether. This has caused much speculation amongst the fans with the majority being concerned over the Call of Dutyfication of a beloved series. This coincides with news of EA’s plans to dish out a new Battlefield game every year following the release of Battlefield 6.
Battlefield 6 Release Date & Summary

EA is seemingly trying to follow Activision’s path of success with the latest Call of Duty games and their profit model. This is unsurprising as the lead project manager for the upcoming Battlefield is none other than Activision veteran Vince Zampella. However, history has shown that such efforts often fall flat, as these games tend to lack originality and risk becoming mere parodies of Call of Duty rather than carving out their own identity.

Fans can only wait in speculation for now as there has been no official reveal of the game. Apart from the multiple concept art from the studio. The Ex-developer has hinted at a potential Battlefield 6 release in October 2025, though this remains unconfirmed by EA or DICE. Concerns rise over the upcoming Battlefield game as fans eagerly await more details. Stay tuned to our blog site for updates as the story unfolds.

The New Black Ops 6 socks with the omni movement concept. It feels as though you’re running on ice through the whole game. I’m a Huge Battlefield fan please keep the mechanics true to the game. I have BO’s 6 but no longer play it, I’m looking forward to Battlefield 6.
As Battlefield fans we can only hope for EA to stick to the Battlefield formula and not CODify it
I hope they get bullet ballistics correct this time, a 7.62 fired from a sniper rifle versus an assault rifle they are both exactly the same one bullet will not kill you faster because it’s out of a sniper rifle do you get what I’m saying.
Battlefield gunplay when it comes to ballistics has always been a topic for debate, we can hope the devs this time around provide a more grounded approach. An implementation of realistic ballistics combined with a return to modern combat is just what Battlefield 6 needs.
