Let’s take a more in-depth look at All weapons in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and their abilities.
Weapons Showcase & Gameplay
With Shadows Ubisoft is changing up a lot of mechanics in the game to please veteran fans and bringing back staple mechanics of the series. With fan feedback and backlash, the devs are bringing back hidden blade combat along with a much more deeper focus on stealth. The latest weapons showcase on the official Assassins Creed Shadows site confirmed both Yasuke and Naoe will have unique abilities tied into their weapons and skills.
The game is still on its way to be a more RPG-like gameplay as the game will feature skill trees, a variety of abilities to upgrade and a world similar to that of the previous Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the interactions in its world. With the series featuring two protagonists, the devs have separated gameplay mechanics for both of their protagonists Yasuke and Naoe.
Japanese Weapons and Arsenal
The weapons of Assassins Creed Shadows are based “historically” on the Japanese Sengoku period with the gameplay taking place in Kyoto, Osaka, and the Iga Province. Starting off with the stealthy Shinobi Naoe will have access to tools that fit perfectly to her personality and combat skills. Using faster-paced weapons with little resistance like the Katana, A Kusarigama which is a ball and chain weapon along with a tanto knife combined with her hidden blade.
As for Yasuke who is a brute and approaches enemies head-on will have a few more options with a long Katana, Naginata spear, Kanabo two-handed club of death, a long bow, and a rifle.
The game will mix and match the two protagonists to provide gamers with a more grounded yet fresher combat system. Perfectly combined with the abilities of the two and their set of weapons leaning into the different playstyles and approaches towards missions and engagements.
