The year is 2024, and fans are still waiting for the remake of Assassins Creed Black Flag. Being one of the most beloved entries in the series, Black Flag has long stayed dormant for years, with only ports of the game being drip-fed to fans over the years. Finally, after much waiting, there is good news with leaks suggesting the Assassins Creed Black Flag Remake is much closer than most anticipate, with the latest leaks suggesting a release window in 2025.
Assassin Creed Franchise Plans
Rumors started to circulate earlier this year about a potential remake of AC4 Black Flag. The rumored remake is, in fact, due to Ubisoft’s current state in the gaming industry. The French giant has been in a sticky situation for the past few years. Reports suggest Ubisoft has plans to revamp the Assassins Creed franchise and release a new game every six months after the release of Assassins Creed Shadows.
The plan includes the release of Assassins Creed Jade, a mobile title, Invictus a supposed multiplayer Assassins Creed experience, and the potential Assassins Creed Black Flag Remake. The plan has been pushed due to the backlash and delay of AC Shadows and this has caused delay in the pipeline for all future Assassins Creed projects.
Black Flag Remake expectations
If this AC4 Remake is treated similarly to the likes of the Dead Space or the recent Resident Evil Remakes the game can easily benefit from the modern hardware. With a revamped engine, updated graphics, smoother animations, and add-ons, Ubisoft can easily cash in on the fan base alone for the game. With the recent flop of Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones, many fans have assumed that the company might utilize the assets from the game and restructure the game as a whole.
Skull and Bones was a by-product of Black Flag. The initial plans for the game were an expansion for the Black FLah, then an MMO, and finally, the flop it was. With many speculations, Ubisoft is salvaging what it can from the title and remaking the beloved entry into a whole new experience(it definitely can use the much-needed upgrades and features).
When can the fans expect the remake to be released?
With no official news as of yet on the remake, leaks suggest the game will drop somewhere around fall 2025. The remake is a safe bet for Ubisoft to capitalize on the game’s loyal fan base and win the trust of veteran fans with the potential remake. With Assassins Creed Shadows being delayed to 11 February 2025, the release of Assassins Creed Black Flag will be somewhere in November 2025.
Other Assassin Creed titles that also deserve a remake are surely the Original Assassins Creed, Assassins Creed 2, and Assassins Creed 3. As these games are held dear by many fans as some of the best entries in the series with the addition of Black Flag.
Summary
An Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake is certainly some of the better news coming out of Ubisoft. The last few releases of the company have seen a drastic drop in players and fan support. A remake of the beloved title will certainly bring back veteran fans of the series to jump back into the boots of Edward Kenway and cruise the templar-infested waters of the Carraibian in no time. It is still yet to be seen, with hints of some sort of announcement in the future. Meanwhile, players can jump back into classic Assassin’s Creed titles right here and experience the nostalgic value and appeal of the older titles.
